Whether its a 455 or 350 not much to do making it a nice running street car. I will be thinking here low budget. Basics are a nice tune up and fluid change with all hoses and belts. First step for reliability look at the carb, if high mileage a rebuilt should be in order. There are aftermarket intakes available also. As for headers? Well with a 350 in that LaSabre you have a ton of room. But still make sure they will fit. Also once doing the headers you will have to do the exhaust.

With my '73 Centurion 455 convertible it is 100% stock except for a mild mid range cam and a transmission shift kit. The only reason for the cam change and shift kit is because I tow my GS with it when heading off to the track. It has 2.73 highway gears. She tipped the scale at 5,025 pounds and I ran it once at the BPG Event a few years back, ran a 16.85. Oh and I do tow with it. So what I am getting at is there is not a whole lot of things you need to do for reliability and fun with these cars.

Personally I would give it a good tune up first, maybe a rebuilt carb (if its original), a trans fluid change. You have a load of weight that 350 is pushing so speed should not be a major factor. Cruising having some fun in it I am guessing is what you want. Another great site like this one is the Centurion website which covers all the land barges. Loads of big car info and owners. Between both these sites you should find some great advice. http://www.buickcenturion.com/forums/index.php
