For those that are running a belt driven pump.....

Do you have anything in place to support the bottom of the distributor shaft where it would have mated w/ the stock pump shaft or do you just put the distributor in and let it ride?

Good question Gary:TU: On mine there is nothing. The distributor is all new (new bushing etc). Just dropped in. I know the cover had modifications on blocking up the oil holes that are not used. Other than that nothing else. I will double check with Rob at Stage 1 Auto on Monday if no one else responds.

Hi Gary, I saw this and thought that I would get a quick repy in before heading out to the other side of the globe. (leaving in 1 1/2 hours).
There really is no support to be had with the addition of the oil pump shaft. If you can picture how far the oil pump shaft sticks out from the timing cover, you can see that there is no side load support there at all. The distributor does all of the support work as the final bushing is located right behind the gear. By leaving the oil pump shaft out, you're actually helping to stabilize the gear to gear clearance, (or at least not hurting it any).
