Can anyone tell me how to positively identify a 455 flywheel off the engine? Any casting numbers, identifying marks, holes etc?
thanks

My notes say the 455 flywheel is #1241871 and uses the 166G gear set.

Hey guys, got that flywheel finally, now does anyone know if a factory Hurst shifter will clear a bench seat? Also, who makes a shifter boot that has a chrome ring that bolts to the floor without using the short console?

Does anyone here know about the "mystery shifter"? I have read it from buick repair (http://www.automd.com/repair/buick_m35/). It's called mystery shifter since it's a mystery it shifted at all but they cautioned to avoid it if you want your trans to last. I also read that some of the best 4-speed floor shifters is made by Hurst. It's a good starting point for a good shifter.

Sidestuff, I found a 455 flywheel on the internet and bought it. I am in the middle of my swap now.
