Doug - do you know what ratio that rear was ? Just curious and was discussing this with someone the other nite ... 2.93 was the "standard" rear but that was 10-bolt. What was the standard ratio for a 12-bolt ?

Alan, my '69 350 4spd is a Canadian car and has a 3.31 non-posi in the 12 bolt rear. I think that was standard, at least in the 350 4spd cars.

In general:
2.93 10 bolt = 2.91 12 bolt
3.23 10 bolt = 3.31 12 bolt
3.42 10 bolt = 3.55 12 bolt
3.64 10 bolt = 3.73 12 bolt

although other optional ratio's were available.

pretty sure the 350 and 400 base rears would be different - were'nt they 3.23 for 350 and 2.93 for 400 in the 10-bolt cars ?

Yes, a GS350 had the 3.23 and GS400 had the 2.93 as standard. So, a 12 bolt GS350 should have the 3.31 as standard.
Just checked my parts book and I messed up. A 12 bolt GS400 is a 3.07 ratio in place of the 2.93 10 bolt and the 3.31 might also be used in place of the 3.42 10 bolt as well. :SPANK:
Sorry, senility is setting in. :DOU:
