I just got a set of these headers and I'm wondering how I should install them.

I'm thinking, drop the motor in without them and then put them up from underneath before I drop the motor onto the frame pads then bolting them up and dropping the motor fully into position.

with so much under hood room, i think you can install them from the top or bottom.

They will look great for years, and prevent any rust thru also.:SMART:

A coating would be nice but I think I'll paint them with engine enamel once a year and save the $ for head porting. :DOU:

Just for kicks I tried it and I can install them from above. Even the old 80 Buick 350 runner sounds good off these Hookers.
I have a leak, what are you guys using for gaskets and is there locking bolts?

I dont use gaskets. I clean the old gaskets off real good and apply the high temp silicone sealent about 1/16 all around the ports on the headers and let it start to dry then bolt he headers up. No leaks. Done this for years now,

Dan, have you milled the surfaces flat on the headers? I could never do that with mine if I hadn't done a cleaning mill on them.

i use stock felpro or victor gaskets. no problems at all. and a mix of headers bolts.

No thats why I use 1/16 inch of silicone and let it start to cure up. It fillis in the gaps.
