Mike,
The producers of the show say they are negotiating with a network in the U.S.A. to have the series aired there. But I wonder if there aren't too many car related shows already for any network there to want another ? So our expectations are realistic on that. Along the same lines they say if the show is popular here, it could go on for a second season etc...We'll see.Going to look into the possibility of making the shows available on DVD or may be a way of down loading them on line. Thanks for your interest.

Mike,
When all of the six shows are formatted I will make sure YOU are able to get a copy of it ,if it does not air in the U.S.A. Too bad you can't see it there at the same time as here. They have been showing commercials and clips of the show on APTN network already. Going to be fun to watch the premier.

Thanks Mike. We really appreciate the support. Next week is going to be an exciting one. Thursday Feb 22 ND the TV show premiers. And then Friday night Feb 23 RD brother Corey's band JONAS plays a big show at the BELL CENTER in Montreal, a big hockey arena where the Montreal Canadians play. It should be a very large crowd. The last time they played there, they were the opening act for VAN HALEN when they were on tour with them in the U.S.A.
This time they are the headliners, and have an opening act before them. I hear that a distribution deal for the U.S.A. is very near.So their music & videos etc could be played there soon. With a tour to follow with yet another major act, similar to Van Halen , Aerosmith etc... don't know who yet. It will sure be cool when their video with the GSX, 70 Stage 1 and the Skylark plays on MTV? Like it's played on Music Plus and Much Music here. I don't think I will forget. But please remind me about the copy of the shows. Will make sure you get it.

If anyone is interested ? The TV show debut on Thursday was well received . It airs again today. Then each episode follows the same schedule every Thursday and Saturday for the next 2 months.
It was all over shadowed by the much anticipated concert with Corey Diabo and the band JONAS last night at the BELL CENTER where a crowd of 9000
attended and witnessed their crowning moment as they just signed an INTERNATIONAL deal with media giant WARNER (BROS) MUSIC . A major U.S.A. tour will follow with a new CD.
The TV show is really no big deal in comparison. We are happy that it documents Gran Sport Autobody in clear perspective representative of the shop the clients and the projects. They are talking about doing a second season now.

For those of you that can watch.Tonights show should feature a 1971 GS Stage 1 convertible that we are doing a frame off on. I like the part where we pull the NOS 71 GS grille out of the original box and the camera zooms in on it !!

Thanks Carl. We were disappointed you could not make it for the TV shoot with your car, because of the incident where the tree fell on your truck. We wanted you to be included. The response to the show has been excellent, and the producers are talking about the possibility of doing a second season.
If the show does extend into the future, we are going to be inviting some club members to be guests on the show, and certainly the ones that have worked with us in the past will be highlighted and interviewed, and the projects that are presently in our shop will certainly be a part of the series.
There are four more episodes left to air in the following weeks. Some will air two times a week. Then they will air in syndication from time to time after that. No word on any airing in the U.S. yet. But the series should be available on DVD at some point. I Will make sure you get a copy of the shows Carl. Thanks for your interest.

Whew! For a second there I thought it was gonna read "and the camera fell on it"!! :WOW:

We get APTN here with Shaw but reception is pretty weak (suppose I should upgrade to HD but I don't watch much TV). I'd like to see a copy on DVD as well.

On another note, ran into a gentleman at the World of Wheels show here in Calgary couple weeks back, I lost his info (he hopefully still has my card) and I heard some pretty good stories about growing up with the Diabo brothers and Buicks......

Tim,
Was the guy you met at the car show wearing a light colored cowboy hat tan cowboy boots, black jeans and a black plaid shirt ?? If so, I know who you are talking about.
The last show, the scene with the grille was not in it. I don't see the shows before they air. Should be in a future episode. I do remember what they filmed, the producers came in , and filmed us while we were working, and did seperate interviews quite a few of our clients and their cars etc.... We have no idea of how they are putting the shows together. It is total reality. We like it like that. It shows what we are all about, what we are doing from day to day. What you see is what you get. Four more shows left for this season. The 71 Stage 1 and the Grille should in there some where. Plenty of BUICKS and Brand X'ers too. We are really busy. FULL HOUSE !!!

Can't say about the shirt/jeans but yes had a cowboy hat and boots on, super nice guy (I know being out East you probably think everybody out here dresses like that but actually he stood out pretty good in the crowd!! )....we chatted for a quite a while. Small world....

Couple of my buddies get APTN on bell or whatever, so gonna try and get it recorded for me...looking forward to it!

Tim,
From what I understand the guy you met at the show also got a number of pictures of the BUICKS that were there.
The Frame off Stage 1 Convertible project and the 71 NOS Grille was NOT in the show last week. Maybe tonight ? But certainly in a future episode if not today. I do not know how they are arranging the shows together. I see it for the first time when it airs like everyone else.
I did talk to the producers and they told me that on the show TONIGHT
they are going to feature (among other projects) the mid 11 Second 71 Stage 1 that we built for Don Elliott. It is Cortez Gold with a black interior and has an N-25 Bumper.
This is the car that won an award for the best 70-72 GS at the GS Nationals and was photographed by POPULAR HOT RODDING. It is also the same car that was featured as the JOHNNY LIGHTNING Collection # 6 Die Cast and the same car in the picture card with it.

Recorded the show last night. Channel is pretty bad quality (snow) but the show was great!!! Its presented on a fun and even level....None of the fake arguments and crap that the other ones use to keep you interested, just good info and funny stuff (Mad Mohawk late to the show, the rainstorm on the open vette, car wont start, car out of fuel, etc!!LOL).

You guys seem to be having fun, and its all pretty natural.

The 71 vert is looking good. Love to find a machine like that, be the perfect match to the 71 Stage 1 hardtop I have. Not much chance of that anymore of course. What color is that?? I thought bittersweet mist but it kinda has a bronze tinge to it too (again, don't forget our channel 90 is very bad quality).

It also gets the Buick out into the mainstream, the publicity is good for our cars I think. Hopefully you guys can put all the episodes onto dvd and make them available.

Tim,
Thanks for the feedback. Too bad the reception was of poor quality. Yes the Stage 1 Convertible Frame off project is a Bittersweet Mist color. Actually there were TWO Bittersweet Mist GS convertibles being worked on at the same time !! I didn't know they were going to show the Stage 1 Convertible last night, it should be in another episode again .They did show the 71 Coretz Gold car and the Die Cast of it, and interview the owner .There are plenty of BUICK projects and people in the following episodes too. Yes MMK are a fun bunch of guys. We are more on the serious side, we get really involved with in the work so we are a bit more laid back.
Nothing is planned, they just come in and shoot what is going on at that particular time and day. We are getting used to it , and it is turning out to be fun to do.

Thanks Carl . It is really the clients like yourself that are making it a success.
We are trying as much as possible to include as many clients and their cars and interviews with THEM in the shows as much as possible. There is at least one BUICK client or more interviewed with their car in every show. As a matter of fact you were featured last week with some pictures of your car and you are mentioned by name, with the HMM CAR OF THE YEAR article. Some good shots of the magazine article.
There are a few shows left this season. I think next week will have some drag strip action. Some flow bench tech. And a feature on a Stock Appearing engine project . I don't see the content of the shows before they air. We see it for the first time like everybody else. So I am guessing in what order it will be shown.
We would have liked to have featured the Stocker we worked on, that being Bob Lindquist's Silver GS Stage 1, that ran low low 11'S @ 124 MPH with 3:42 gears. But it was already sold by the time we started filming the show.
We hope that the show will continue into season two, because we are just scratching the surface on what can be done with the show.

The sixth and final TV episode of the season aired last Thursday. It featured two shop project cars, the 71 Stage 1 Convertible frame off that has 90% + NOS parts going with it, including showing the NOS 71 GS Grill. Along with the owner being interviewed as the star of the show. And a GS recreation. Thanks to all the many BUICK folks that contributed to the shows by being interviewed and allowing us to feature their cars. And we especially thank them for giving us their projects to do. It sure has been a great format to show what we are doing in the shop, and what our work is like, and the success the cars coming out of the shop enjoy. Thanks again to all that participated in the shows with their BUICKS we will be providing you all with your own personal copy of the show. The shows will continue to air on a regular basis on the Network .

Well after a successful season of six shows of the TV show REZ RIDES the producers got the OK to do a second season
and approached us about continuing the show into next fall on the APTN Canadian Cable network. And after considering continuing it , I think we are going to pass and not continue with it. During the discussions about extending the show into another season the producers want us to create scenarios such as artificial problems and things going wrong with work and such to make the show more interesting ? The first season was based on what was actually happening in the shop from a day to day basis. And we were happy that it shows what the shop is like, and what goes on from day to day, and everything we do, from the frame offs, the engine builds, detailing etc.. etc... Interviews with the many BUICK people that we worked for and are working for now and their experiences with us. And also a look at some of their cars. We even had an episode and show based on running some of the cars at the local Drag Strip. We were happy with all that. We wanted to stick to reality and the technical side of things but they want to make more of a "show" out of it and that is not what we want to do.I am a bit disappointed in that we wanted to feature some of the cars we are presently doing Frame Offs on like the Berger's former GSX and a Stage 1 Convertible and a Stage 1 HTP. The last five years have been absolutely wonderful. We have had more interesting projects than ever, the TV Show, and brother Corey's success with his band JONAS.Giving up on the show will give more time to attend the BUICK meets that we have had not had time for and possibly slow down things in the shop if that is possible so we can go to the meets? There are going to be a number of cars that we have worked on that we will want to see make their debut. Latest news on Corey's band is that they Signed a deal with Warner (BRO) MUSIC and their CD to be realeased with WARNER in the coming months. There is also a motion picture movie on the band JONAS to be released in theatres called "THE QUEST" here across Canada.
I know I promised a few people copies of the TV show. It is being formatted on DVD.Sorry I can't give everyone a copy but the ones I did promise it to, please contact me with your address and I we send it to you. Thanks !!

Tim.Got your message and took note of your address, will add you to the list for a copy. From what I understand you were only able to see one of the shows air out in Calgary ?
The one with the frame off Stage 1 convertible project ? The shows are repeating from time to time still, so maybe check the listings and be able to catch them on the reruns. If we can get permission to do it, we are thinking of including brother Corey and his band JONAS "EDGE OF 17"(AKA BUICK)
Video along with the copies of the TV show. Music Video has the 70 GSX and the 70 Stratomist blue Stage 1 and 62 Skylark featured in it. To the back ground of the music of their Canadian hit single "EDGE OF 17".

That sounds great, thank you! Out here it runs on channel 91. All we have is basic cable (ie not digital, they charge way too much for that and I don't watch enough TV to make it worth buying) and channel 91 is so fuzzy that it is hard to watch sometimes. I did see the one episode as you mentioned, but that was about it.

Tim,
We promise we will mail you a copy along with the others that we send out. Well it is official we are NOT doing a second season. I am kind of happy too because it takes so much extra time to do.And we have a busy schedule this winter doing the Berger's former GSX and finishing up on the Stage 1 convertible that you saw on the show.Want to get those done as we also have the prospect of restoring a 70 Stage 1 convertible 4 speed when they are done. The last few years have been jam packed with work and the show and music did not leave much spare time.At least now we will be able to get out to the shows and races again.
Well Corey and his Band JONAS are at the premier of their motion picture called THE QUEST this very weekend. It will be playing in the theatres here by December. About the bands adventures and trails acquiring a U.S. distribution deal for their music. It has a happy ending as they sign with WARNER at the end of the movie. They are now talking about a PBS special possibly happening with Corey and his guitars and music.WARNER is about to release their CD for the holidays in the stores. We hope they play the EDGE of 17 AKA: BUICK video in the U.S.A. on MTV. it already play here in Canada.Things happen very slowly in the music bidness. Have not seen the movie yet going to wait till it hit the theatres here. All fun and exciting.

Never really thought of it in terms of SELLING it as a DVD . Don't consider it all that big of a deal or that there is any warranted interest in it. All we have planned to do, is give copies to our friends and prospective clients and those that express any relative interest in our services so they can get an overview of what our shop is like and how we function on a day to day basis, and what our work is all about from the perspective of people that we have worked for that are interviewed on the TV show with their projects and cars. Still working on getting permission from the producers to do so, and how to format it. When we have it completed, we will make a few copies available. Thanks

Well the producers and the cable network FINALLY came through providing us with copies and permission to distribute
the TV series on DVD. Why does everything like that always
take so long ? Anyway,it will have all SIX episodes of the show on it and clips of brother Corey's band "Edge of 17" video AKA BUICK video. Will be sending out the copies to those we promised it to in next little while. We do have them NOW.Real busy working on the Ex-Bergers GSX and couple of Stage 1 Convertibles and a HTP.Some of them on the DVD but not the GSX.We declined the offer to continue the series for a second season. We have too much work in the shop and it would have had too much effect on the time frames of the projects which we felt were more important to focus on them and our clients interests than the TV show. Busier than we have ever been.So please be patient we Will be sending out your copies of the TV show DVD soon now that we have them. Thanks for your patience.

Thanks Carl .We are glad you enjoyed it.We appreciated working for you and with you on your car and wish you continued success and enjoyment with it.
Keep on getting all those show awards and magazine articles, you deserve it for all your hard work.
Although it was probably the roughest GS Stage 1 Restoration project that anyone or any shop has ever done.We were happy to participate in it, and it is testament to what we can do with a total rusted out parts car and make it look like it was a rust free "straight " southern car with a show quality paint finish. Thanks for giving us the work Carl. You did a great job too.
Too bad you were unable to make it here with your car and be included in person on the TV show.Real bad that tree fell on you truck !! We are glad we were able to include you in the show, from what we had in the archives here.
Well it was a great show to do.But very time consuming. It was being considered in the U.S.A. by the DISCOVERY CHANNEL they were thinking about picking up on it, and were negociating with the producers.
We decided to not continue with the show here.It came down to two choices "Produce a TV show " or "A RESTORATION " shop.
It would not have been possible to do both.Producing and filming the show would push the time frames and scheduling of the in house shop projects and those on the waiting list way to far out of proportion. We just have too much work to side track a TV show.We all thought about it and decided to continue what we do best Restore GS'S."For now" we want to keep our clients happy and get the projects completed as quickly as we possibly can.We may possibly have the option of doing the TV show in the furture. At least the show is an honest documentation of what our shop is like, the quality of or work, and our relationships with our clients. It sure would have been interesting to contiune the show with the GSX frame off project we are presently doing among other projects too. We will see what the future brings.Maybe we can continue with the show again sometime.
