Okay, this is my race car, its a camaro dirt track car brand new buillt short block with alot of goodies. anyway, just today it started acting funny trying to start, it will crank over, and then just spin the starter. i marked the harmonic balancer with chalk, and it always stops at spins at the exact same point. its never done this before. i cant find a broken tooth on the flywheel. so the question is, could it be bent? my buddy told me if you try to start a high compression motor like mine with a real low battery it can bend the flywheel. i had never heard that before. im gonna try shimming the starter, but like i said its been started probably 50 or so times and never had any problem or funny noise. any expertise or advise would be greatly appreciated! thanks....oh by the way, its got a brand new jegs mini starter on it...

a v-8 motor should stop at 4 different places at random(if memory serves).bad starter drive is possible.also maybe timing chain? never heard of a bent flywheel, flexplate on the other hand...yes.
