Not sure if there's any interest here... but my dad is in dire need of some cash right now and he's being forced to sell his Hornet. I'm going to put it on ebay for him, but before he has to spend $50 on that I thought I'd post it a few other places for a few days.

He's had it for what seems like forever. About 7 years ago he was in $$ trouble so I bought it from him because I hated to see him lose it. When he got back on his feet a year or so later he bought it back from me. This time I can't help him. No extra cash here either. :(

Anyways... it started out a 6 cyl car. He dropped in a 360 and a 727 trans in the lat 90's. The trans was rebuilt locally, and we simply put a cam, lifters, intake, headers, and carb on the 360. It has a welded posi rear and I'm pretty sure it has 3.55 gears.
Last time it was raced was when I owned it, (2000/2001?) and the best I got out of it was 13.24 at Dragway 42 in West Salem OH.
When he bought it back from me, he didn't like the big carb I had on it so he put a smaller Holley on it. If I were to guess, I'd say it'll still run mid/high 13's as it sits (after a tune up)
The 360 has what sounds like a mild lifter tick or something in it. You only here it when you are cruising under light acceleration. It's been that way for about the last 2 years and he just hasn't got around to doing anything about it. It hasn't got worse, so he hasn't messed with it.

The body has it's share of mud in it, and the black bucket seat, floor shift interior could use a bit of sprucing up. I bought him new carpet for it last xmas but he hasn't installed it yet. The floor will need a few patches and he didn't want to possibly ruin the new carpet by just throwing it in.

It's a fun car that definately turns heads everytime you drive it. When's the last time you've seen one?! :BROW:

<s>He's asking $2,500 OBO for it, and with his situation right now he's motivated to sell. </s> New price. bottom dollar... $2,000!!
Right now the car is at my house in Tiffin Ohio (44883) and can be seen anytime by appointment.

I still need to get pix of the interior one of these days. If anyone has any interest please get ahold of me and I'll get a priority on getting the interior pix taken for you.

Thanks

Hi Beth
That would be great if you could post a link back to this thread or something! If you'd rather not, I can certainly sign up there to post it myself.
Thanks!
:TU: :BEERS:

I just came across this pic in my computer from back when I owned it. I had the factory style wheels on it. I assume he still has them, and also assume they would come with the car.
Just thought I'd throw that out there....

haha Jamie ... believe me, if you lived in Ohio, everything you wanted would STILL be 1000 miles away.
In the last 4 years or so, I've been to NY 3 times, NJ once, IN once, IL once, KY once, and MI once all buying cars. I can't remember the last car I bought in Ohio. :DOU:

As much as I hate to see him lose it, I really hope the Hornet sells. He needs the cash bad. :(

But my 2.56 rear end can sit here forever as far as I'm concerned. I know I'll use it again someday! :GT:

Thanks Dana!

Nope... well, kinda. We got "0" bids the first time it was listed, and a few days before the auction ended the 2nd time it was listed I dropped the opening bid and the reserve to try to generate some action. It got up to $1,750 and he said to let it go. On one hand he's not happy because there goes thousands of $$'s and years of work for pennies on the dollar... but on the other hand, $1,750 will just about get him out of the hole he's in. So I guess it's a bittersweet kinda thing.
