Are there any members out there looking for the spring steel hood insulation strap for a 67 GS400 and Riviera GS? This is the one that keeps the hood insulation away from the inlets on the "Star-Wars" air cleaner.
I have already made the detail drawings, and I am in the process of ordering the spring steel material. In about 4 weeks I should have them ready to ship, assuming the steel supplier can live up to the 3 week lead time he gave me. They will be coated in black enamel, and look just like the originals.
The first run will be 50 parts, and 7 of those are already spoken for on the V8Buick board. Price is $35 each plus shipping.
Let me know if you are interested. Thanks, Randy Sprague

I am planning on putting the Star Wars a/c back on my car when the motor is back in, I'm rebiulding it now. I did not know that there is something needed to keep the insulation out of the inlets? Is this something that came stock on the car or was needed after the fact? Do u have any pictures of the install?

Phil

Yes, the original 1967 GS400 and Riviera GS that used the "Star-wars" breather came with a spring steel strap that had small tabs at each end. The tabs fit into 2 small holes in the underhood bracing. Since the breather openings are so close to the hood, Buick added the strap to keep any loose insulation from getting sucked into the breather openings. I have included a picture of one under the hood of a 67 Riviera.
Let me know if you need one for your car. The paint is a hi-temp semi-gloss black engine paint. I usually charge $5 for shipping via USPS in a mailing tube (inside the continental US). Thanks for your interest, Randy
