Need some help with a couple of things first is the 455 in my 72. I've had it for 2 years and the engine in it has never been dissembled by me, but I need to adjust the valve lash. The engine is modified to what extent I don't know. It has a girdle fitted to the block and has TA roller rocker arms. It shifts to 2nd at 6000 so its pretty strong.
Anyway I need to know the procedure for adjusting the valves, and what should they be set at. I would like manually turn the engine over to tdc on each cylinder cold and then adjust. Can this be done cold and what would be the gap fo intake & exhaust. I've heard 22 and 24 does that sound right.
Second the 71 that blew up the hypers are gone, we sleeved the cylinder, found the block had been remaned before & had one sleeve in it already, went back with cast pistons & had to take the block out to .040 & going back with the TA212 cam.
I read somewhere about a modification about drilling a small hole in the inside of the timing cover to add extra oil to the timing chain? Has anyone heard of this?:BEERS:
Thanks to all,
Woody
