Hi everyone,

After 11 years of ownership I sold my 1971 Buick Skylark/GSX tribute car. In its place I just bought a 1972 Skylark Custom convertible - 350 2bbl with 67,000 original miles. The car has working air conditioning, power top, steering, and brakes. The color is fire red with a white top and pearl white interior. I have a 4bbl intake/rebuilt carb, 3.23 posi rear w/rear sway bar, and some 15x7 rally wheels with 255x60x15 tires which will be added to the car.

>>Yep, that is definitely in my plans. Also will be getting in a new dashboard woodgrain kit to replace the faded original. It seems like I might actually be able to get another set of the Buick Super Sport wheels which I will have the centers cut and welded into 15x7 chromed rimshells and then have the centers painted fire red to match the exterior. Did this with my old '71 and loved the look.

>>Thanks and yes, it was a Long Island car - sold to the original owner before me by Russell Buick in Roslyn (no longer exists). Funny you mention Jason - he lives not even three minutes away from me in the same town. He's helped me a bunch with my former '71 Skylark/GSX tribute car. I've heard about the Walmart Saturday cruise - will definitely have to get down there soon but this weekend we are having company. If the weather holds out tonight I'll probably be at the Oakdale cruise by Wendys for a little while as that has gotten huge again.

I love that white interior...but me and white don't play along too well with each other...I am more of a black interior type of guy...lol

Chris, You gotta put a GS grille in that bad boy...

>>I actually was specifically looking for a 70-72 Skylark convertible with a white interior - I was afraid with the black it might get a bit hot with the top down. There was another '72 fire red Skylark convertible for sale in PA at a chevy dealer for a cheaper price but it had more miles and a black top and interior so I passed on it.

>>Great minds must think alike. I have a '72 GS grill sitting in my garage now - just bought some Krylon "dull aluminum" to recolor the grill before putting it in. Anyone in the market for a nice condition, cheap '72 metal Skylark grill?

Nice ride. Sounds you are having fun with your new toy, and that's what it's all about. The grille should look great.

>>Just took it out tonight as the sun finally made an appearance in an otherwise very cloudy and possibly rainy looking day. The local cruise was packed - thanks in part to some construction being done in the parking lot.

For the future I will be adding a few odds and ends to the car - I already have dual sport mirrors and hopefully soon Buick super sport wheels. Will also get a GS hood, hood tach, rear spoiler, and a nice dual exhaust system. But that's all down the road, it's great to enjoy the car as is!
