Take 84 to Scranton area jump onto 81 south for about 20-25 miles to route 80 go west. Try not to hit 81 around rush hour times. You will hit some crazy commuter drivers and truck traffic that will make you go bald.

Do not take the PA turnpike. Its a toll road and can be bumpy with those expansion strips. From 81 south in PA take 80 west right into Ohio to Akron get onto Route 77 south to route 70 west to route 13 north into Heath.

This route takes me around 10 hours (with just gas stops). I would get on route 84 about 20 miles west of the NY/CT border on route 84.

I will second everything that Rick says, except that it's route 79 into Heath, as opposed to 13. Route 13 takes you into Newark, which is the long way around.:TU:

I'll also suggest avoiding Scranton/Wilkes-Barre during rush hour. Traffic at that time can be very crazy, BTDT.

Rick, what you neglected to mention was the part about getting off of 80 in Ohio and getting onto 76, which takes you through Akron.
