My transmission to my GN is almost brand new but it starting shifting at high RPM's lately. I replaced the EGR solenoid and it seemed to fix it, temporarily. It shifted correctly for about a week and now it is shifting high once again. Anybody have any thoughts or experience with this issue?

Thank you

two things come to mind..

TV cable is stretched, damaged, or mis-adjusted

one of the two springs on the governor assembly have jumped out of position

Thanks for the information, Buick528. I already adjusted the TV cable, although it may need replaced as you mentioned. But if it is the springs on the governor assembly, is it possible that they can slip back in and cause the transmission to shift properly again? Like I mentioned before, it started to shift correctly after I replaced the EGR solenoid, so I was wondering if it may have just been coincidence. I had a shifting problem once before when I was in a jam and had to get a Carbon Canister at a junk yard after I had accidentally damaged the original. The vacuum port was larger and I assumed it was not properly getting vacuum. It just makes me think it may be some kind of vacuum issue. Anyway, thanks again for your response!

I replaced the EGR valve and it's shifting fine now. It's strange to me that it was the problem but it's shifting great now.
