Congradulations to Rob and Doug!
Winner and Runner-up.
Rob's car is flying, it really seems to like the new convertor. Now if he can just figure out how to keep the front end down, he will go even quicker! Can't wait till Cecil and see what Rob's Stage1 can really do!!

If Rob can keep it down for Cecil it may hit the 8's. Hopefully Doug's motor is not hurt too bad.

Congrats to Rob and Doug! It was good seeing everyone this weekend. We had a great time. It would've been better if I had a car but there's always Cecil.
Rob: Try and keep it on 4 wheels!:BROW:

What happened to Doug's motor?

Not sure about Dougs motor? I will have it at shop this week and see how bad it is. Doug said he thinks its hurt, but not sure what is broken?:DOU:
Heres are some pictures I got from my wheel stand! My best run this weekend, the car 60 footed at a 1.26! The Best in the past, with the old ATI converter was 1.28 and that was in Cecil with perfect weather and traction!! This Coan converter is awesome!!:YA: Had 1 or 2 passes that the 60 foot time was off the rear tires at 1.36!! Fun but not the best for ET!
Congrats to everyone. Next stop Cecil County Meet in October. Car ran respectable at E-Town, actually picked up as the day went on. Lets see Rob will need some Depends, and hopefully Doug's motor is not hurt too bad, he had a large drop in oil pressure.

Great racing! Good to see everyone.......
I dodged a few bullets in the cat.
Rob: car left awesome with that COAN! CONGRATS! I'll get ya next time.
Close call yesterday racing at Mason Dixon. After losing with a .006 redeye I pick up my time slip turn to go to the pits and my tie rod where it attached to the rack and pinion (under rubber boot) came unthreaded!! NO STEERING! Pass side tire completely disconected from the rack!
Made the pass a minute before at 137 MPH with probably one thread holding it!
Mike Pollack helped me get it on the trailer by holding the tire straight.
Got it threaded back on but going to use lock tite this time.:DOU:
Another lesson to go over EVERYTHING on our cars to be safe!!!

Congrats to Rob on a great win! :TU: I figured my .001 light in the semi was gonna send me red in the final! :LAUGH:Dammit! As it turned out, even if I'd laid another one down on Rob I'd have had to shut it down due to the drop in oil pressure. Right after I shifted into high gear the motor coughed once and the oil pressure guage was flipping back and forth, so I immediately got off it and shut it off.
It didn't sound or act like a catastrophic failure, and it didn't leave any parts laying on the track, or put any windows in the oil pan, I started it up again so John Massoud could listen to it after we towed it back to my trailer and it sounded fine, but the oil pressure was stuck on 20 psi and wouldn't move even when I cracked the throttle a little. Maybe just a spun bearing that hopefully didn't tear up the crank. John built me a nice "spare parts" motor and I had a good season with it. I'm gonna haul it up to Rob's today and we'll take a look and see how bad it is.
Thanks for all the kind words everybody. I had a great time and got to go a few rounds for a change!
Thanks also to Rob, not just for putting the motor back in the car (again), but for being a real gentleman in the lanes before we ran the Final. We flipped for lane choice and when Rob won the coin toss I asked him if he wanted to split the winnings and he agreed. I suggested that instead of 50/50, how about a split that gives $50 extra to the winner, and he agreed to that as well. I also suggested we run the same dial-in number, since he'd been dialed at 9.16 and I'd been dialed 9.18. We agreed to split the difference and we both dialed 9.17, so we could run it old school....HEADS-UP, and give the spectators a little something to talk about!! First car to the stripe wins! It was a lot of fun and I just wish I'd been able to make more of a race out of it.

Just an update on my motor....just got back from unloading the car at Stage1 and as soon as we got the car in the shop, Rob pulled the valve covers and found the problem....two broken rocker arms on #2 cylinder. When I was running the roller cam I had to run huge valve springs and the rockers were clearanced to fit the bigger springs. Grinding away that much metal makes them weaker and I've had a couple of them break over the years. Now, instead of figuring I'd miss Cecil County, I should be up and running in a few days. I feel so much better now.:TU:

A smart man always keeps his eye on his oil pressure guage during a run.
That split second reaction to shut it off can sometimes save you thousands.
Good thinking on Mr. Hecklers part in the heat of a run.
Now you can give your half of the winnings back to CHILLLLLL-IN-SKI.
He fixes your car for free on your end, and gets to keep the whole purse.
A WIN-WIN for you both!!!:TU::TU::TU:

No, it does not lose oil presure from the rocker shaft. It loses all oil presure because the lifters fly out of the lifter bore! On buick engines the hydrolic valve lifters get oil pressure before any other part of the engine!! Buick engineers did this to make sure there was no tapping on cold start! They did not care about the racers who would 1 day want to make more power then they could ever emagine back then? This is a huge problem for a race engine and why buicks blow up allot! The weak rockers we have, even the TAs cannot handle a high RPM engine like doug's car needs to go fast. The second the rocker broke on Doug, he had no oil presure to his crankshaft! If he did not let off the gas it would have blew up! Even thou he was fast and shut it down, he ran it with very low to nil oil pressure and might have put some groves in the bearings? Jesel and TD make special modifyied rocker shafts that can handle the enormous load a high reving Buick with a roller cam needs. This is the #1 most important thing to buy if you want to build a Buick race engine. Also these rockers allow us to put a larger valve spring on the head which will last longer and work much better!

Had a great time - good weather, good friends, good times.
Thanks to John Csordas Sr. for finding us a spot in amongst the rest of the Buicks!
Rick, I knew I should've helped you pack before 1st round - could have saved you some time getting home. You could have just skipped 1st round.:BROW: Great racing you although I think I'm now up 2 to 1.
Congratulations Rob! Makes that starter issue at the beginning of 1st round seem pretty insignificant now, doesn't it?

Hey Sean....yeah I was pretty busy working on another car. I wasn't actually pitted there. Your car sure is quiet! I saw you running it right next to us. Maybe we'll meet next time.....
I've had a wild week or two. Last week the Ford 9in blew up. Monday a rocker stud backed almost all the way out. Then on the same day the inner tierod unscrewed right after making a pass!
My cat may have nine lives but I don't know about me.......

This is like the part that loosened up. The nut end screws onto the rack shaft. How would it loosen when it has a ball socket on it?
