Just purchased a new rebuilt HEI distributor from CRT Performance but the instructions are a little vague regarding which terminal on the cap is for plug wire #1. My instructions state: "If it is not already marked, mark the spark plug terminal on the distributor cap which is just to the RIGHT of the battery power lead as position #1." OK, I am fine with that, but how am I to be viewing this, from the top looking down or from the side looking at where the power leads and module wires plug in. I'm used to my old Delco points unit which has all of the positions numbered on the cap for you.
