I thought I would share some info on our cnc'd program that finishline and competion compents have developed. We have done sevral sets of these since we came out with them with good results to say the least.
The first engine was built by Scott Brown of competion components for a good friend of his. The car is driven every weekend to cruise in and shows. But he loves to do a little racing in there too. The car is a full weight GS that tips the scales at 3965 lbs with the driver. This engine was built with all the good pieces and was desighned to run e-85 so it could be driven the way he wanted to, and that is all the time. Finishline did the machine work but the desighn and build was done by Scott. It turned out very nice, we ran it on the dyno and it knocked out 703 hp 653 ft/lbs, all while mantaining it's driveablity. To date, the car has been 10.35 @ 129+ mph. To see the full story on the combo, check out Scotts blog.
Another good example of of what can be done Is Doug Cooks 69 Skylark. Doug had been racing this car with ported iron heads on it and decided to step up so he did the math being on a tight budget and figured the Eddys were for him. When we first talked he was hoping to pick up .50 of a second and get in the low 11's. Well that happened and then some! To date it has been 10.60's at over 127. He will tell you that there is more to come. He has to get some work done to the chassis to knock out some better sixty foot times, and a new converter will help with that also.
I will toss out one last combo: a street driven daily 69 GS California. This car has over 4000 miles on it since it was built. The car is well over 3800 lbs: steel wheels, full exhaust, and it runs a drag radial tire. This pump gas friendly combo has been 11.20's at 119 and has a tendancy to get booted from the track for not having the roll bar required to run that fast. (that is being changed)
We are having great success with these heads and feel it is a good option for a guy looking to build a strong motor when a budget is involved. I have posted the flow numbers for these heads below. They are a real good option when stepping up from an iron head and a full race combo isn't what you are after. (Our stage2 TE cnc fits that bill)
