Upper Radiator Hose / 1970 GS 455 w/snorkel

Howdy All

I'm running into trouble getting a upper radiator hose through NAPA. They only list the upper hose for non snorkel cars now, I can get a flex hose but I would rather a molded hose.

Can anyone help me out with like a Gates (or other brand name) upper hose part number for a 1970-1972 Buick GS/GSX 455 w/air con. / with air snorkel air cleaner.

I'm striking out with Year One and Original Parts and NAPA.

My trouble is I have the newer/bigger HEI distibutor in there and I need to clear the HEI and the air cleaner snorkel.

The hose I have now has a long straight section that comes off of the thermostat hosing and it clears. My trouble is that there is no number on that hose to match a new hose with.

Well I ended up getting some thing to work.

I ended up using a NAPA # 7596 hose (Gates 20869) and a 1 1/2" hose coupler and a short straight section that I cut off of another upper hose that I had gotten. A NAPA # 7349 hose (Gates 20577) is very close to the # 7596 and I could have used that one also.

That will get me working untill I can find the hose that I have now (the one in the photo's) that has the long straight section that comes off of the themostat hosing.

I'll try to snap a photo or two to show what I have done.

Do you have the number or webpage ??? I tryed goggling it and it comes up with a transport company or fuel company and other things, but no Buick company.

Thanks I tryed that one. No good for me as I can not run it like your photo because of the HEI and the 1972 radiator shroud.

Good question John, I was wondering that too...

When I 1st got the car that owner just had it sitting on top of the HEI. That wasn't going to work for me, so I got creative.

I new of the Buick bracket that is used to hold the air cleaner http://www.yearone.com/serverfiles/f...hid=214AD56792.

I bought one of those and tryed it, it still wasn't enough to hold it up for my liking.

I then took a hood bumper support and drilled a hole in the air cleaner support bracket, I then installed the hood bumper onto that and it works great.

Alittle Yankee Ingenuity as you will see by the attachments that works great.
