John your such a princess...
Did you see the 0-60 time on this thing ?
23.5 seconds !
I think it will need a turbo.
Also take the hood ornament off, it's misleading.

It has been several days since anyone has ventured a guess so I am going to end the contest without a correct answer. That being said, I am going to announce the WINNER of the contest as 75RivGS since he had the earliest most correct guess. Rob of The Netherlands will be receiving the BPG T-shirt shortly after the event. The correct answer is: 1960 Austin Princess. Some books refer to it as a Vanden Plas (the coach builder) Princess but that wasn't official until mid 1960. This specific unit (I said unit !) was made in late 1959. Kudos to Smartin for the first correct make/model guess but wrong year. Sean (our resident limey) guessed an A135 which went out of production in 1957 with the introduction of the Mark IV series.
For the performance minded here are the facts: An automatic Limousine was tested by the British magazine The Motor in 1962 and had a top speed of 86.2 mph (138.7 km/h) and could accelerate from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 23.5 seconds. A fuel consumption of 15.8 miles per imperial gallon (17.9 L/100 km; 13.2 mpg-US) was recorded. The test car cost £3473 including taxes. This specific model has a four speed manual on the column.
Thanks for playing. This Princess is a bit rough on the edges (a nice ten footer) and in dire need of a new interior.
"GOD SAVE THE QUEEN".

Yeehaaaw,
during the 2010 Nats we planned to return in 2011, but finances forced us to stay in Europe this year. Goal now is to make another road trip (in again a Buick...hopefully a Electra) in 2012 with the BPG Nats as one of the high lights. (and this time the Buick will remain in the USA in stead of shipping it to Europe, so we can use it more often afterwards).
Thanks for this contest, John. In this way I'm still (sort of) connected to the 2011 Nats.
Will PM you.

Opel motor is in the Opel. The Princess has this massive inline 6 putting out a whopping 110 HP. With the bonnets up (that's the hoods for us Yanks!) there appears to be enough room to put in a big block Buick. The inline 6 doesn't leave any room front to back to add an A/C unit ( I said it again) which is what I am looking to do. For now it will just sit in the garage and leak all over the floor. Aren't cars fun !!!!!!!
