Hey Rick M or Steve R or anybody using the peterson wet/vac system

I'm getting close to finishing my project. I'm down to the final -16 hose that runs from the side of the oil pan to the "pump in" of the peterson wet/vac pump. How did you guys run it? My car is 70 GS with a girdle so I don't have alot of room between the oil pan and cross member. Also if I install the line using the peterson inline oil screen filter my options are cut in half due to the filter not being flexible. Then I would have to run it on the outside or below the cross member (see pic). I read in NHRA rule book that all oil lines should "with in" the frame. What you guys think? Will it fail tech? Also with the peterson pump mounted flush to the timing cover bracket. I can't get a 90 or 45 fitting on the "pump in" because it won't clear the steering compontents (see pic). Then I thought I could go from the oil pan up and over the top of the motor mount then back down to the "pump in" with out the inline filter of course. Will I lose oil pressure or even prime? Any help or pictures would be great.

Just saw your post this morning. Later after work today I will gather some pics and info on mine. I will say off the top of my head that the lines are with in the frame rails (not inside them) and the filter is up top on the passenger side. I never had a primer issue. THough if the car is sitting over the winter months I do remove the belt and spin the pump with a hand drill and the oil pressure shoots right up to pre-oil the engine. I also installed a 2 quart ACCUSUMP. Its plumbed and wire in so that between days of racing during the season, once the power is on I hit the accusump switch inside the car and it dumps the 2 quarts thru the oil lines into the engine doing a pre-oiling, prior to me starting the car. Once the engine is running the 2 quarts are sucked back inside the accusump. Also it has a low oil pressure switch which if the engine loses oil pressure when running the idiot strobe light goes on and the accusump dumps the 2 quarts into the engine. Hoping that if I react quick enough I may be able to shut things down and save most of the engine.

Only one time at a track I had my balls busted and that was last year at Lebanon Valley, NY. The tech guy had a bug up his ass about the oil lines behind the engine (they feed the rear cam bearings) and my fuel line runs down there prior to running inside the frames for protection. His beef was "IF" my flywheel broke and smashed thru the bell housing it would cut the oil lines and fuel lines causing a "HUGE" catastrophic crash/disaster (in his words). I argued the point that that is one reason I have a solid NHRA certified legal flywheel and an Ultra Bell. Furthermore that "IF" this was ever possible at least it would make a great You Tube Clip. He was just an ass. Another tech guy pointed out the Ultra Bell. They both argued and they let me race. That was the only time in lets say about 8 years? It all legal (the setup) this was just an isolated pin head doing the tech that morning I guess. I'll post stuff later tonight.

Loaded up some pictures. The oil feeds into a few locations. One is in the rear rear cam bearing location and another is the stock location and the last is from the front of the block feeds into a junction block mounted inside the engine and then splits into a few lines feeding oil straight down to he mains.

Thanks for the pictures and info.. Here is a couple of questions.. In the picture when looking down on the front of the engine I circled it in red. It looks like you added about 2" to the oil pump mount. Now did you do that to get the "pump in" past the steering linkage? Also in the picture of underneath the pump, I circled in red where you don't have the "pump in" hooked up. That's where I'm really stuck. Can you show me where that is running currently on your set up? Thanks again

Got home late tonight, been a crazy week. I will make it under the car tomorrow and take shots of the lines. We did cut a hole thru the crossmember and ran the oil pan sump line straight out from the pan thru the crossmember into the pump. I will double check the spacer, it may have done for the linkage, I will double check that also.
