and the 2 most questions for a front engine dragster.....you sit there?? yeah, there made of steel. how do you see? just aim it. it goes straight.

to alleviate the idler pulley from rubbing the upper hose, bought a longer belt. sure is lot of stuff to take apart to change the belt. also had to reverse the idler so I could tighten the screw. going to have to change that to a stud and nut. will be easier to tighten than cap screw, may even have to add a set screw on it.
after 3 yrs finally check the timing. it was ok. and the 350 still loves the 650. waiting for the 850 to come back to try. crazy engine. the roller rockers have always been set loose at .010. will try setting them at zero lash to see if it is any better. can't hurt to try it.

blower restraint kit is $400. bought a big sheet of aluminum for $50 for the top straps, made the paddles out of my stock, but had to buy some extension nuts (welded)for the strap end of the paddle. had to buy the sfi straps for $100. but still cheaper than 400. did hit an auction for tooling for $50. extended drill, pulley taps and bunch of new endmills. good deal. also waiting for the 850 to come back.
relocated the trans cooler to behind the seat. rules want them away from flywheel explosions. another $50. always saying some minor work to be done and then end up in a pile of crap to do. crap issue is putting on the diaper. I could build a pan, but the bottom of the oil pan is at the bottom of the rails now. the diaper will do for now. would like to get to the valley b4 our may 20th meet for some time.

Finally getting closer myself. got intake on engine to checkout line up all looking good so far. There is a provision to connect the water to the back of the head now thru the intake would I make that connection?

my s/p I tied the back ports across and tee'd to the front and then to the t/stat housing. I still do it on the s/c intake, but no by pass hose. why? because the sb mopar guys do it. is it right for a buick, I don't know. thought the heads and everything got hot, at least felt hot. bought a laser temp tool. found things may be hot to the touch, but all were under 180*. go figure.
following this thread, you know I do things that just don't jive with all the pro's theories AND make it run. again, is it right, don't know, but it's fun.

difference is you run yours down the track.

I would think the connection from the two in the back connected to the front should keep things cooler and keep the junk out of the back of the head.

The ports look like they line up real good, not going to port match mine was opened up more as compared to the first run they did on the intakes. The only problem I see so far is if I put the 1 inch spacer on with the big air cleaner I have it may be too high. I might have to keep the 1 inch out and just put the nitrous plate on, it is only 1/2 inch and it look like that is as far as I can go. Unless I can use a smaller hight wise air cleaner mine is 4 inch, if I can get a 3 1/2 inch may be able to make it work

This is what I found after taking the old intake off, it had been on there for 15 years and I never noticed anything, car ran consistent all the time for that days weather. I have been going 2-3 tenths slower from last year but I had contributed that to just sitting for the past 6 years. but it ran real good on that nitrous so go figure.

I noticed the gasket really squeezed out some and got distorted. The gasket may have gotten moved by that bolt you cannot take out of the intake with the heater hose pipe in the way. that bolt would be sticking out when trying to put on the intake. I used the copper spray on the head side to hold the gasket in place but it looks like it moved somehow. I really do not like the lip of the valley pan being on the head either as I feel the composite gasket there and that piece of the pan on there holding it in place is interfering with each other. You can see how it gets squeezed out. Any thoughts on this?

I think metal gaskets belong with iron on both sides. alum and iron I would use the gasket paper ones. matter of fact, I make my intake with victor or felpro gasket paper and the thickness depends on which intake of mine I'm running. think I use a thick one on the s/p..maybe.

I have both .030 and .060 gaskets. But I think I may now know what happened to the intake gasket failure, a nitrous blow out. I had one nitrous explosion when I stomped it out of the hole and that was way back in 2005, I just had too much bottle pressure from the heater I had on it, so much for a thermostat. That was when I learned to keep that pressure at 950-1000lbs and 1150 will not work so good.

The new intake looks like a good fit on both sides without any gasket in there, looks flat and not moving.
