still looking for the elusive 215 or rover 3.5 oil pump cover. you would think there would one or two around. worked on the trans bolt to tie the tranyy and block to the mid mount plate. made a bracket and welded the two hidden sbc trans bolts. now i have to countersink two holes so can bolt the two hidden sbb bolts to the mid mount plate. once thats all done i need to have the motor mounts welded to the chassis and then i can put in the v6 and to all the little stuff and we will be ready to start it up and play with it.

i did the 2 buick blind holes, trimmed one side on the plate and cut out for the starter. tried the 350 in it. the oil pump area is really close to the chassis. may have to make a dummy oil filter cover if a rover cover doesn't work. one little item holding the whole project up. errrr.

still looking for that 215 or 3.5 rover oil pump cover. in the meantime i made a dummy cover to try. need a tap to finish it up to see if it clears. john rewired the car for our use. made motor mount brackets for the engine. just need tabs and have them welded on. not much more easy items left to do. big ticket items are a converter, new brake pads, fuel pump and radiator. will have to get creatative with the radiator hoses. and hopefully we can use the gas tank that came with the car.

since i can't find any oil pump covers in the usa, i found a guy in england that hopefully has what i need. d&d, the 215 guys were no help at all. would not answer my email for what i'm looking for. i cut my dummy filter way down to see if it would fit with the metric cover. no way.
honda radiator will be here monday. found a builder close by that sells the saddle mounts i'll need to mount the radiator and for motor mounts. also sells throttle cables which i need. nice to have somebody nearby. need some braided hoses for fuel lines, a converter and we should be ready to go by the end of the month if nothing goes wrong.
be nice if somebody took pictures of all that's going on. but its too much technology for me.

stupid dilemma today. pulled the engine out to install the converter. all back together and go to bolt up the converter and WHOA, the gap is over a 1/2". fit to the c/shaft, no pump. fit to the pump, no crankshaft. so web surfing we go. found that ati makes c/shaft extenders. naturally for chevies. sent them an email to see what they can do for me. maybe the chevie will work on the buick. we'll see.

everyone of those little bumps in the road............

emailing back and forth with these trans companies is a joke. if it's not a chevy, they don't want to know anything. so i made my own c/shaft adapter tonight. have to pull the engine out to see if my dimenions are good. wonder what the next bump will be.

made the c/shaft adapter the other night. nothing like making one of a kind part. had to pull and install the engine/trans 4 times to get the adapter right. a big pain doing that. just have to make the spacers for the f/wheel to converter. and then move on to the next bump which is the saddle mounts for the engine and radiator. we're getting closer to trying it out.

well i figured since i had the converter hooked up finally i prime the oil pump with the dummy cover. works well, no problems. oil pressure is high, may have to put a lesser spring in it. i went to install the f/pump tonite. had to take off the motor mount, slot the holes and move it back because it hit the pump. then i had to rotate the pump to get it in. ended up pulling it out 3 times to rotate the bottom so i could be able to hook up the inlet line. beginning to hate chevies more. since all this was done, i figured i would put gas to it. poured some gas in the carb, puff a little. added more gas, cranked and wouldn't start. standing there looking at it, all of sudden it starts by itself. there wasno cranking involved, it just mysteriously started by itself. holy moly! hit the e-stop button. noped that's not going to work. finally pulled the power wire to the coil. forgot i had direct 12v going to it. that was enough for the night. john will have to wire it correctly so i don't do this again.
