My Dad is coming to 2012 BPG event

please be nice to me when he is around lol... he is a semi gear head having owned a corvette ...a few 80's Camaros and 90's Mustangs and his current car a 2009 Mustang GT convertible with a few mods. He wanted to come out last year but had a last minute contract he had to take care of. He had driven my GN and loved it and likes my 67 even more. He is a single malt drinker and lives in PA and is retired. He owns numerous guns and is quite the redneck now..I am sure he will fit in fine with our crowd...I guess I am a little nervous that my Dad will be at an event that I help organize.. yes I am 46 but still want my Dad's approval..silly but that's how I feel. I know that he will feel welcomed...and he is a great guy and it has taken me a few years to get to this point...anyway be kind to me...when he is around...lol

That is super great Sean. When my Dad was alive he drove out with me to the GS Nats back in the mid early '80s for a few years. Had some great times and some lasting memories and some fantastic father & son bonding, including a wild biker gang and naked lady story at one of the hotels there. I'll have to tell you that one. Enjoy your times with him, every moment.

I echo Rick's comments. The best times I had at any Buick event were with my Dad. Enjoy your time with him as they all go too fast.

My father passed before we got my GS, so he's had to watch from above. Loyd did help him get a motorcycle license, though, which he carried until he died. It is the greatest thing that you are able to share your hobby with him. And to attend the BPG event that you help put on - just awesome! I'll be kind but I do have one question -will he try a pudding shot or two?

The only reason people hang out with you at the BPG Nationals is because they know you hang out with me.

Sean in 1985 my Dad and I drove not trailered my GS to Bowling Green. He got a crash course on how crazy we all were about racing. While racing my GS and I broke the throttle cable at the gas peddle. He was all nervous on how we will get home (17 hours drive). I used like a pound of electrical tape and wire and rigged it to work. He was glad until he asked where I was going when we were at the track. I said, back on line to race. The look on his face was priceless!

Another time in 1986 we stayed across from the Holidome (who remembers that place) The motel we were at had a circle entry. Anyway we checked in and all these Hells Angel type bikers were there and rooming next door to us. I talked a bit with them and showed some appreciation of their rides and shared some of the beer I had. The idea was to be friends so they don't kill me or something. Anyway that night I'm at the Holidome with everyone else and my Dad stayed at the hotel room watching the Hockey playoffs. I get back at 1am and he is all wide eyed shocked. He told me that there was a huge fight in the room next door with a lady screaming and fighting and banging on the wall. He then heard the room door slam, he peaked outside and there was this lady bone ass naked walking out of the room cursing at the bikers and she walked to the sidewalk waiting for a cab. After a few minutes she was picked up, still not wearing a stitch of cloths.

The next morning when we saw the bikers they were friendly and acted like nothing ever happened. LOL, My Dad always fondly talked of that night. What he was amazed the most was how close knit we all were, always lending a hand and totally trustworthy and friendly, like an extended family. I believe he came 4 times with me to Bowling Green back in those years. I was always glad I had the opportunity to share it with him.

This is going to be a great trip for you and your dad! I'm absolutely positive he'll be impressed with the event his son, our "Fearless Leader", did command and control and a Lion's share of the work in organizing. This is such a memory making opportunity. I admit I'm jealous- enjoy every moment of it!
