Another year put to rest with the good and bad.
Good: The weather! Although there was a threat of rain on Saturday, we sped the classes up and had everything done by 6. All classes were complete!
Bad: The weather! So stinking hot and humid, rain all around the track on Saturday, but thankfully, we were in a bubble.
Good: The racing! There were a ton of good close races! There were only a couple times when we were down because of breakage, I believe antifreeze was NOT our friend, but overall, there was very little down time due to "oopsies" on the track.
Bad: Lots of breakage this weekend. I don't think I've ever seen this many "broke" cars at our event. Hopefully everyone gets everything put back together and will continue racing for the rest of the season.
Good: Night racing. Once the sun was setting the track was hooking up better.
Bad: Night racing. Arriving at the track at 7:30 am and not leaving until around midnight, makes for a very very long day.
Good: Schedule. Most people had enough cool down time and time between rounds to work on their cars.
Bad: To much time with nothing going down the track. Although we had open test and tune for most of the weekend, we just didn't have enough cars to fill in all the gaps. If it weren't for Jacob Martinez and Paul Ferry, it would have been much worse! The day was LONG! :)
For every good thing that happens there seems to be something wrong. I know that I can't make every person happy, but Denny and I do try to accommodate the majority of the racers. I knew going down to a 2 day event would be trying and I wasn't wrong! It's hard to make a schedule and think of all the possible things that could interfere with it. When you have multiple classes and cars that fit into several classes, it's hard to make sure that everyone gets a chance to run and to make sure that they are in the lanes before you start the class. I did the best I could and, if I can help it, there will be some changes for next year. I'm not going to lie and tell everyone that this was one of our best years, because everyone could see the car counts were down. Of course we had alot of cars that broke and couldn't participate, our counts were down regardless. 5 cars in Bracket One was truly disappointing, especially when 3 of the 5 were Q16 1st round losers. I've never seen B1 that low on cars before. I need to figure out how to get more cars there!
Friday was bad. I take total blame for day that dragged out FOREVER! In my defense, I really didn't think we'd be that low on car count and I had to make sure we had some night racing. Spreading things out didn't work good and we are looking at how to fix that! Saturday was better. Things flowed nicely and consistently but had the weather not cooperated, it would have been a long day as well. Schedule will be tweaked as we know the majority of our participants need the relaxation, socializing time!
There are ALOT of things that we will be working on for next year everything from schedule to the actual racing. Please keep in mind, I'm still learning!
Edit: Forgot to add an important part of the wrap up! Congratulations to all our race winners and a big THANK YOU to all our sponsors! Without these two groups of people, we wouldn't have a race to attend!

I'd like to make it back there one year even if I have to fly in. Not sure if I could make a 3 day tow each way!
