Bob Quigg's 1966 GS 401 nailhead 4-speed

Bob bought this GS brand new in 1966. It was green with black interior, with a 401 and four speed.

Well this past Sunday at Atco Raceway, NJ Bob ran a tire spinning 11.08 at 122 mph! Oh I almost forgot, that was all Buick muscle dual quads, 401 nailhead engine, four speed and on 9" slicks!

....and it's street legal!!! Way to go Bob!!

I just read about Bob's car in the Buildsheet, excellent times Bob! The car looks awesome. I remember about five years ago there was a few guys racing to be the first in the 10's with a nailhead Street legal car. I think most gave up because the lack of performance parts for the nailhead.

No doubt Bob will be in the 10's, great accomplishment, and Bob is doing it with a four-speed car. Any car running in the 10's with a four-speed is a "handful". Now that's old school Bob!

Is it possible to get more info on what has been to this car to achieve those times/traps? New here and looking for nailhead info and it sounds like this guy must have tried about every part that came along for that car and it's amazing stats! THX, mark

If possible I would like to find out what he did to his nailhead to get his car into the low 11's? What kind of HP is he getting out of it? Did he dyno the engine?

Bob has worked tirelessly over the years to get the maximum power out of his 401. I believe his engine has made 422 rwhp to date(on the dyno) and through constant R&D,I'm sure Bob's engine will be making more power in the future.

I'm sure Bob would be happy to tell you what he has done to make his car this quick.

Nailheads are cool but its a shame that most are hiden under a hood.
I want to build a ratrod and its gonna have nailhead power.
