I would like to see Picture's and talk about your Engine Buildups Ring Gap's Bearing Clearance's anything you would like. Any Brand Part's you like better. The Good luck you have had and the Bad luck you have had oil Mod's what ever that would help Buick Racer's keep there Buick Engine a live.

I installed Total seal rings from TA. I assume they were really made for some other make, as I didn't have to grind a single gap. All the ring gaps were within the spec on the instructions, though toward the outer limit. The bright side, it saved me installation time.

I am building a 505cid motor for a 71 Buick Riviera to be raced at Bonneville.

Moldex 4.250" stroke billet crank
TA stage 2 TE w/2.260" intake 1.755" exhaust
A special intake manifold
Eagle 6.800" H beam rod w/L19 bolts
Calico main and rod bearings (3/4 groove main)
Erson Cam (roller) .731" lift w/1.7 rocker (278*@.050 In.) (282*@.050Ex.)
KB Piston (special made for this application) 14.3 to 1
Total seal ring (zero gap top)
Mike Phillips Oil pump (Scavenger system) w/pressure equilizer
Lots of TA parts
Main girdle
Lifter girdle
New front cover
Valve covers
Mallory Ignition (comp 9000) Hyfire 6.6

Sounds Like a Very Nice Build Custom Intake 14.3to 1 is that a Flat top Piston. I have a 4.250 Moldex Crank as well BBC Rod journal I have some 6.800 GRP Aluminum Rods. I am waiting for a New Block. How Long did it take to get the Moldex is yours center counter weighted mine is not and it is 82 lbs
any way what are the Bearing clearances and Ring gaps that you are Running ?. Running it at the Salt Flats Sounds cool. Are you going to Dyno the Motor?

Flat top piston (yes)
Moldex (forever) and yes it is right around 80 lbs. Internal balance
Are you waiting for a new TA block? or one of those Bulldogs that has yet to built.

Rings-Top .026" Second .018"
Yes I just got back from making an appointment for dyno time.
We are getting vey close on time (Aug. 18) Start of speed week!
We might make the manifold to were we can cast it and sell it if ours is successful on our engine.

This engine also has had a lot of head work and T&D paired 5/8" shaft rocker arm setup that has everything in the right place now.

I really hope everthing works as well as planed.

Manage Attachments Click Browse Find Pictures on your Computer Up load One at a time. Here is some Pictures of a On Center intake for Stage 2 V6 it is a very nice Piece that i am selling. I just thought i would try and load some Pictures I have T&D like your setup a Roller Cam that big in a 466 I order longer Rods 6.950 because I had stroker Pistons made to build a 507 with a 6.800 rods. I kept my 6.800 rods and the 4.250 crank back. My heads Flow 385 on the intake and Exhaust 282.

That's VERY similar to the Engine in my car,You have a point more Compression and a bit more Cam bur the same CI and rod/stroke.
I too have the T&D's in pairs,You'll love those,Can wait to hear Dyno results.
I have to say,I am worried a little about the clearances on the mains.
They seem to be "Buick-Guy" tight,Just make sure you use a System 1 oil filter or something similar so you're able to monitor things.

Whats up Gary How's the Old Buick running been any Faster than the 9.45 The bearing clearance is a little tight on the Mains 3 would be a little better on the mains Mine is 3 on the Mains 2.5 Rods

Have you had your motor dynoed? I would like to know if I'm in the ball park or not but I'm hoping to get around 750hp. I will take your advise and see if the machine shop will get me a little more cleance. They sure did bock at how the girdle was such a pain.

You also said your heads flowed in the 380's, did you have them flowed on a Superflow 600 @ 28"? The only reason I ask is we have been killing our selfs trying to get the number up there and we keep coming up short. did you do anything with the head bolt bump down in the port? How about the pushrod bump?

p.s. I think the coated bearings are really going to help the mains and the rods live.

Yes they were flowed on a Superflow 600 @ 28. There is alot of Flow in Different Vavle Jobs as well. Lots of work to the heads. I need a better Casting maybe one day there will be some casting out that box that will go 400+ that would be nice.
