Bigwedgie, there is one other thing about the windage tray that you ought to consider. You have both sides turned up, which can cause the oil that is spinning off of the crankshaft and rods to be deflected back up into the crankcase/lower cylinder wall area instead of letting it drop back into the pan. The drivers side should be turned up toward the crank to act as a "scraper" to direct the oil down into the pan, and the passenger side should turn down to allow the oil to drop off into the pan. Check out some of the windage trays that Milodon makes and you will see what I mean.
So how did things go at the salt flats? Any new records you can tell us about? I would sure like to see that Riviera break 200! Later, Randy

Randy, I know there are a lot of different ways to get the windage tray to work but I just wanted the oil in the sump away from the wind. The louvers are exactly the width of the rod journal and are directed so the oil will return to the sump as it rotates. Salt! Well we didn't make it this week............the machine shop put us way behind so we tried to get everthing done but fell short.
We are going to the World of Speed September 15-21. David Frieberger set a new record in our class 225mph, so we will have to go 226mph or faster. We saw the record fall and lowered the car another 1 1/2". How low can you go?
Jeff..........it's top secret! BBM?
We are going to wheel dyno the car sometime this week so I will get you guys the resaults as soon as I can.
Bigwedgie, I was trying to help, although from your perspective it probably didn't come out that way. Sorry about that.
Best of luck to you guys in September!

Thanks Randy, I didn't take it wrong at all, I just have a different purpose than most racing applications.
I will keep you guys updated as soon as we do something.
Well good and bad!
The car went 182.206mph average in the mile and had an exit speed of over 186mph but we didn't even get close to the record 225.280 average. We also hurt the motor.
We both drove the car and got our licence's to go between 175-200mph.![]()
Now we need to find out what broke.
I will post what we are going to do next and maybe throw in some pictures.
One last thing, I never thought I would say the fastest I have ever gone in a car was in a Buick Riviera!!!![]()
186 is still one hell of a ride in a boattail! Congrats to you and all that helped you get there. That 200mph itch is hard to scratch in a Buick, but you will get there. Later, Randy

I never told you guys that this combo made 601hp to the rear wheels witch I thought was pretty good. I still haven't taken the motor apart.............I had a deer hunt and some other things going on but now we are back into salt mode. I think the next step will be trying to get the car as good as possible and who knows mabe a different power plant of course it will still be Buick.
Is it still a top secret! BBM?![]()
BBM = Big Block Mopar....referring to the intake I believe.

Yes the intake = BBM or Big Block Mopar. It is top of one bottom of another. Top is I--- and the bottom is BR----. Sorry I promised not to tell but I think you can figure it out.
