Converting a 70 GS 350 from automatic to four speed, and have some trouble with the flywheel bolts. The machine shop lost the flexplate bolts, but I have new ARP bolts with 12 point heads, and a new flywheel. The bolts must be too long. they almost touch the main bearing cap or block once i run them in finger tight.
My question is, should these bolts have washers on them? they came from TA without washers, but they either need washers, or else I will have to cut the ends off ( or both ) because they are definitely going to be too long. I am thinking that I should use one sprocket ( ? ) washer per bolt, and if they are still too long, ( which I think they'll be ) then I must cut them. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
I've seen what happens when torque converter bolts come loose and hit the block webbing, it absolutely destroys the motor. Had one 350 do that at 35 MPH, there was a piece of camshaft sticking out the side of the oil pan.dont need that on a new motor.

dont need that on a new motor.
