Was the outlaw class or Rick Crawford at BG? Any pics if they did run?

Nobody knows?![]()
Rick was there. I heard that he worked very hard to make it, to the point of wrenching in the trailer while his wife drove to BG.I think by Sat. he was having issues with a cyl. head. We'll have to have him verify.
Bobb was there. He was having ignition issues. The Finishline camp kept working and chipping away improving the whole time. Did see him go 116 mph in the eighth. He hasn't even stepped on it out of the hole yet, but I think he was running into the 9's by Sat. using drag radials. This thing will be wicked by the end of the year. I'm guessing deep into the 8's. He did drop double laundry into a 25 mph headwind, had gas it to get to the turn-off.Hopefully he can fill us in.
There was a guy there from Louisiana (?) with a gold 69 w/ a black top. He was spraying a Stage 2 motor. Didn't see what he ran, but heard he blew through a few pistons.

Spent most of Wednesday and Thursday chasing. Problems. Everything in this car is new. I had opened the book for the digital 7 Wednesday morning for the first time so I figured the issue was me. Spent a ton of time on the phone with a couple of buddy's that run these things. To no avail. Finally one of them said I think its just junk so find a 6a box and throw it in there. So I borrowed one from Bruce Kent. Things got way better but I had messed up the carb by this point. So it took a couple of passes to work that out. I did toss the laundry on a slow pass to make sure it worked figured better to have an issue going slow than fast. Doug Hecker asked me when I was going to step on it because it was just pulling away from the lights like I was on a Sunday drive. At that point it was not my concern how fast it would leave. So it ran a 10.39 with a few issues but we were close now. Friday morning I made a couple more changes to see what was going to happen by this time I’m starting to get wore out by this thing. I went up to make a pass during test and tune clean burn out it felt good. Let it out easy on the line do to no retards in it but the driver. Went a 1.58 sixty foot but really starrted to pull about 100 feet out and went out the tall end at 9.55 @145. We think we are on the way now. Went up made a qualifier for BLS and ran 116 in the 1/8 but no one else showed. I knew Rick wasn’t ready since he was parked next to me (he ended up with a couple of issues keeping him off the track). He did make an easy motor pass of a 10.38 before the issue popped up but it not as big problem so he’ll be ready for INDY it sounds like. We made some more passes Saturday but had a small issue with the gasket between the base and the main body of the carb coming out and laying on the intake stopped us from any more passes. All things considered I’m happy with the weekend the motor is good and when we get this thing worked out it will fly even if it does weigh 3600 LBS and runs street tires.

That car was in an old car craft that I have from about 2000. He said he has been running it in some NMCA events.
