"NEW" header bolt locking system

I was at a trade show last week and saw the Nord-Lock "bolt securing system" . It is two washers that work together to lock the bolt in place. What's innovative is the cam system that allows for vibration and expansion under load. I have not tried these but it looks like it should work well for header bolts. Cost is not bad - 30 cents or so. Available in steel or stainless.

I doubt that will work for headers, unless you were weld or glue the bottom washer (the other side not touching the nut) to your header flange. There is nothing in place to prevent that piece from spinning on the flange, which would then allow the rest to vibrate off.

Did you ever use some high temp RTV on the threads of your bolts you have now?

They do make header bolt kits that are like that, not sure of the brand though. They have a notch or tab on them that keeps the bottom washer from turning........ they worked really well on my friends 327 Chivy! Do a search on Summit....I think they have them!

Dan - they have serrations that hold the bottom washer and top washers in place. Look at the website for more details.

Try Stage 8 fasteners from Summit Racing. Good system. Breslin used to make a decent header bolt, but they are out of business.

I've heard good things about those bolts from Breslin as well; I hadn't heard they were DOA. Summit still has them in stock for now:
