AAAAARRRGH. Need some help fellas! Fresh motor, everything new. Buick 430, stage 1 TA performance heads, edelbrock 750 carb, edelbrock intake, bearings, cam, etc. looks nice and pretty. turn it over and flames come out of the carb. to me that indicates timing problems. found top dead center on the compression stroke, matched up the rotor to the number one wire on the distributor, pulled the plug and checked for spark, and not sure what to do next. missing the obvious somewhere, could be that ive been working on this thing soooo long that i am over anxious and missing something. if indeed the distributor is 180 degrees out of whack, i tried correcting that as well by pulling the distributor, turning the rotor 180 degrees, and found that the rotor pointed to the number 8 wire position when the timing mark was at zero, and top dead center so i moved the wires all around one position. no go.
???????? anyone???? damn frusterated and wondering what else to do.
Looking forward to your responses...
Rick
