Looking for a TH400 to buy

Hi guys,

I am trying to find a TH400 to bolt up to my 1962 401 nailhead. As long as the case is good I don't care much about the internals as I am having it rebuilt by Janis Transmission anyway.

The old "powerglide" that's in the car has sprung and leak and I've wanted to change to a 400 anyway.

BTW, this 400 has a rounded top on it, not the V type shape that is on the newer 400's.

Gransport, thank you for the information. Is there any chance you can direct me to where I can just buy everything I need to do this? I think the car would be a ton better with the TH400 on it and since this Dynaflow is leaking I may as well replace it.

Dave, I don't know about the "conversion kit" needed for the crank, but I do have a nailhead 400 trans, its a switch pitch and would need to be rebuilt. Where are you located?

the th400 wont be a direct bolt on because your crankshaft is made to accept a dynaflow. there are conversion kits out there to allow a th400 to bolt on but it still has to be a nailhead bolt pattern bellhousing.
