Finally, new top end together

Well, it has been a busy few weeks, but here is my new top end together. New SP1, Holley HP1000 carb, AED billet throttle cable bracket, Lokar throttle cable, Aeroquip braided fuel lines and Robb Mc billet thermostat housing.






I also instlled new electric exhaust cut outs. they work great. I will post a video of them later.

Ha! They are Gary Kubisch specials. They were originally Kenne Bell valve covers that Gary milled the ribs off, leaving only the Buick name. I bouught them from him a few years ago now. I get questions about them just about everytime I lift the hood!

Yeah, I hate the big old HEI Yardley and I realize that some have had good luck with Dave, but frankly reading some of his past posts and how he responded to some people just kind of put me off. I will eventually go with an MSD Billet distributor though.

Yeah, I know. He has some "issues", but he does good work. If you speak with him over the phone you'd know what I mean. I just ignore it all. What puts us at his mercy is the lack of a high quality "trigger" distributor for a good price. The Mallory ones cost a fortune.

No I haven't had an issue with revving over 5 grand...and with my 3.73's it sees that often!

About 4 yrs ago before he moved to near Reno. He is good guy! (maybe lacks personal skills when it comes to computers). I know I've typed things that had a totally different meaning than what I had intended.

I'd certainly do business with him again. He did a great job, and more than I expected, plus he helped coach me a bit on the phone when it was dyno time, a year or two after he did my dist! And told me to call him again if I need any other help or advice, which had nothing to do with the distributor, above and beyond...

Now if you're going to get snippy with him, he will not hold back.

Personally, I love the stock look with either the HEI or MSD conversion over the aftermarket look.

Thanks Alan, I just need to tune the carb a bit I think.
