1971 Gs

I could use some help I hope this is the place to post this question. I'm in the process of purchasing a 1971 GS conv. sight unseen except for some pictures and I would make sure it what it's supposed to be. I know in 71 it's hard to do. The vin#43461h180716.

You left out a number. A 71 GS convertible should be "434671H------" and then the last 6 digits of the vin.

But there is a digit missing in the vin, it should be 434671H180716 (which is correct for a 71 GS convertible). Um, thats about all you can find from the vin in 71, there is nothing abut options in the vin.
What options do they claim it has, original or added on later? You could post some pictures. One warning I have is cars in pictures look much better than in person.

Sorry about the vin I'll try again #434671h180716. The GS can be seen on Musclecarsnorthwest.com & also ebay item #200104890433. Let me know what you think.

I suppose you can ask if the trans ties to the VIN to confirm it is a big block car.

It is so easy to get burned, I hope you don't take the car at face value.

That the rear spoiler was also installed later, as they were NOT even available on convertibles. The front grille appears to be a Skylark model grille, not a GS one. That pict is so bad you can't even tell for sure what grille it has in it. A repro GS grille will run you $600+freight I believe. It also appears to have the 350 buick fender emblems (Buick Motor Division), another one hard to tell from the pict. If it had a big block Buick, there would be (455) emblems on the fenders. I don't know if it matters what the original engine was though (since it is gone). Over all it does look nice. I'll post a picture of a 71 GS grille.

Thanks alot for the help. Bottom line is that for about $28 it would be a nice GS to enjoy. I would rather have a number matching 455 convertable but they seem to be very rare & more expensive. Haven't made up my mind for sure yet but have had a few get away & don't want it to happen again.
