Most of the club directors are probably in Norwalk racing and showing.
Give them a few days and I'm sure you'll get some answers![]()

Glad you asked, here is the plan so far:
TSM - we will host one of the TSM series race events. The race staff will do scheduling for qualifying and eliminations. The class rules and tech session will be handled by the class co-ordinators - Scott Simpson and Lonnie Diers. They will also handle payouts from their class sponsors.
TSO - same applies as TSM class except class co-ordinators will be Cal Hartline and Chris Lyons. Payouts will also be from class sponsors.
Quick 8 - this is a Buick powered, heads-up class using a 4 tenths pro tree.
Super 16 - this will follow established S-16 rules as in the past and is a bracket race with a sportsman tree. There will be 2 sub-classes, turbo and non-turbo. Main requirement is Buick powered and body. Longtime S-16 co-ordinator will be Doug Hecker.
King of the Hill - S-16 turbo vs. S-16 non-turbo
Bracket classes:
B-1 for cars 11.49 and faster
B-2 for cars 12.0 and slower
Index Class:
We plan to offer a heads-up index class for cars to run at 11.50 , faster is a dis-qualification. This has been a very popular class on the West coast and would like to see it work for our event.
Other classes will be considered if car count is sufficient. To do a special class, there must be at least an 8 car field for our payouts. Less cars in a class can be run if wanted. Contact me direct.
Payouts in classes will be determined by car count and sponsor money [if any?]. The bracket classes and index class will have a first or second round looser buy-back available.
There will also be some general rules such as cars must pass track safety check for speeds atained, delay boxes or timers NOT allowed in any class, local track procedures will be applicable such as how bye runs are determined, etc. We will have additional detail info available in a few weeks.

The schedule is not yet finalized as I have yet to discuss details with the track manager at National Trails. However, I do have a tentative plan.![]()
As far as the race schedule, I "assume" we have 8 hours of track time each day. My plan is to have the track "hot" on Friday and Saturday between 10-11 AM with at least a 45 minute break about 4-5 PM. On Sunday, the racing would start by 9:30 AM and a short break in the afternoon.
For the heads-up and S-16 classes, there will be qualifying rounds all 3 days.
We are hoping to have some Mopars show up, as the Mopar Nationals are the following weekend, and we will schedule "grudge" matches with them during evening qualifying Friday and Saturday.![]()
As always, weather can mess up a race program schedule, so we will adapt as necessary if and when needed.

Let me know if I get this wrong. Here's what I read....if you run 11.49 and quicker and are in bracket one...12.0 and slower, bracket two. Hmm...I run 11.6s - 11.7s does that mean that I'm going to have to run the "index" heads up class or slow the car down to make bracket two? I'm a bracket racer, don't particular care for heads up.........

As we did at Indy last year in the bracket classes, we will have a first or second round buy-back option available. That is, if you lose in either round, you can do a one time buy back for the next round.
Also, local track rules will apply for safety tech and operating factors such a bye runs, lane choice, etc.
Like most well-run races, we will have a driver's meeting before finals to explain these items and answer and racer's questions.![]()
Also Renee, you have a good point and have bounced between making it a 12.0 break or 11.50? Will look again at this before we make it final, thanks for your input.

Thursday will be a set-up day for vendors and racers, and track should be open by 8 AM. Racers and vendor motorhomes are welcome to stay overnight during the event, however no electric or hook-ups are available. A RV park is across the street from the track.
On Wednesday night they have their regular race program - gates open at 5 PM, and we are welcome to participate.![]()
Safety tech by NHRA track personnel. If a racer has an IHRA 9 sec. or better lisc., they will accept this with a copy of a NHRA medical paper and at least 3 recent 9 sec. time slips.
They will have VP race fuel available in 112 octane and C-16. Unleaded will be available off-premise within a few miles. Methanol is also available at the track.
The schedule that I "assumed" in my post above will be very close to the final version.
If anyone has questions or comments, please let us know. The race program is for the racers, we are here to facilitate your wants, and make this the best Buick event possible!![]()

On Friday and Saturday, we should be able to field a gambler's race. Hopefully we can find or line up a sponsor or 2 to make it even more interesting? To get the ball rolling, I will sponsor $50 for each day from ArizonaGN.com. Any others, just e-mail me or bring it to the event.
At Buick events I have attended for many years, no electronics, delay boxes, throttle stops or other similar item have been used or allowed. In our "friendly BP Group" racing, we will ask that any such items be removed or disconnected for our event.
It has also been brought to my attention that a 5 tenths pro tree handicap start race had good participation in the past. We could do this with the 11.50 index heads-up class, or in lieu of it? Comments appreciated, remember, this is YOUR BPG/BHP race program!![]()

Hey Nick, sounds good. One small item I'd like to bring up. Please make it a part of your "gambler's rules" that Trans-Brakes and Two-Steps are not considered electronics, for all practical purposes. Most racers understand this and every "no electronics" gambler's race I've run in hasn't had an issue, it's just that sometimes there is the occasional footbrake racer who will try to label trans-brakes and two-steps as electronics. I've never run a delay box and I question their advantage, if any. I just wanted to point out the difference ahead of time and give you a chance to make a call on it. Thanks for the flow of information.

Thanks for pointing this out Doug, and you are correct in that 2-steps and trans brakes will NOT be considered "electronics". They will be allowed in our event competition.
Probably not all racers attending will have read what is going on here in this forum, so I plan to have these items, and others, including rules and guidelines, documented and at the track with us.

would it be possible to make a sticky and lock it with the information you have provided so that if someone is scrolling thru this thread they don't miss something. this thread could be used for discussions and ideas and the locked sticky would contain the rules and information. just a thought to avoid any confusion. and also it will make it easier for anyone to link it from another website
If your car runs 11.50 to 11.99 there is no class but the heads up index class? That is the way I am reading this. Just wondering.
