Maybe I spoke too soon, as I have never been to this track. I would like to hear from one of the BOD on this, so I can plan accordingly. I have never been hassled at Salem or Bowling Green over this. However I was hassled at BG this year over bull crap, and think I may not bother to go back, ever. Really tire of their crapola.![]()

I'll go out on a limb and say that if anyone brings beer at the track, be prepared to get checked. Most times at our Buick Events; BG, Norwalk, BPG, etc, our trunks are not check for beer etc. Technically in the pit area no alcoholic beverages are allowed, I believe it’s in the NHRA Rule book, so the track has the final say on the matter, not the promoters of the event. I know Raceway Park, NJ always checks the trunk, even on our Buick Performance Weekend event.
Let's see to put it plainly, all you need is one person to suck down a few cold ones and then suit up and take a spin down the track, crashes, sues and or worse. I am not saying any of our beloved Buick guys would be so reckless, but sh1t does happen on occasion. Next thing you know everyone is accountable. I would think that insurance policy for the NHRA / IHRA tracks dictate no alcoholic beverages in the pit area. Some tracks even take it a step further saying no alcoholic beverages on the entire grounds.
I for one would not want to line up against anyone that has had a few beers. And yes I have seen a guy at a past Buick event (I will NOT name which event, doesn't matter anyway) pulling to the burnout area finishing up a can of Bud. So we are just as guilty. So bottom line, yes I know most guys sucking down a cold one are just spectators, but we are only human and we all know there will be a few that will be also racing. What do we always read about after a drunk kills someone on the road? “Oh, he didn’t seem that bad, he only had a few” We the public always seems to down play drinking and driving, well times seemed to be changing. Could you imagine the horrendous National press the NHRA would get if there was a serious or fatal accident on the track that was alcohol related? So with that said regarding the question at hand, I would refrain from bringing beer to the track, you may get in or you may not. Be prepared as it is not of our choice deciding this at the BPG Event. It will be the decision of National Trails and we have no way on predicting on how and if it would be done.
If anyone is turned away...well you should know already the rules and reasons and risks behind it. Shame on you as you cannot blame the promoter as they have to abide by track rules and regulations, and you can’t blame the track, because they have to abide by rules and regulations set by their insurance companies. And you cannot blame the insurance companies, because they are in business to stay in business, not taking high end risks on getting sued by lawyers. Most times you cannot blame the lawyers, because they are only motivated by money and hired by a fool who has grown up in life believing that everyone else is responsible for his/hers mistakes.
Best and smartest answer...keep the beers on ice at the hotel and get totally plastered after the racing is done for the day![]()

I agree with Rick 100% on this one !
I like to party as much as the next guy, but I think we should take a few things into consideration:
#1-This is our first event at this facility and I think we should conduct ourselves so as we are welcome back next year.
#2-We don't want our club held liable for any unfortunate incidence.
#3-Remember we have been graciously invited by a generous person who we wouldn't want to have any problems due to our actions.
#4-The track is for racing, but you know we all have our fun there, leave the beers for later at the hotel. I think we'll all agree on that !!!![]()

You keep saying no beer in the pit area. Well, is there any area that is NOT the pit area where we can consume mass quantities, puke on Mooney's front seat, pee on Lisk's tires then flash all females walking past?

I sent an e-mail to Jim Layton the General Manager of the facility just so we can get some clarification...We also need to remember that not all of us attending are racing or even driving and that most of us are responsible Adults and can conduct ourselves that way...
