I couldn't agree with Rick more on going down the 1/4 after one or more drinks. But don't forget there are MANY people in attendence that do not race, and it can get hot in early August.

I for one, would have a hard time going to the track each day without being allowed to have a few. I have never seen anyone drunk at Salem or BG, ever. The more I think about it, I'd probably only show up one day, then go golfing the rest, where my driving (of the Titleist) is really dangerous after a few!

Norwalk, Atco, Etown, Indy and others all sell beer to spectators. Tracks like Etown require you not to leave the area " beer garden" with beer. Also the rules is so the concession stands can make money. You can't bring your own steak to a restaurant. Bottom line is drivers should know better not to drink and race. Leave all the beer for your non racing friends.

I'm pit crew so I can I drink until I pass out? Who am I kidding, I have 2 drinks every 6 months, August isn't my bi-yearly scheduled month to drink........perhaps I should make it though

NTR's policy is a 12 Pack size cooler - no glass. This event is promoted through a Buick Club, I will forward your question to them.

I replied asking if that applied to the stands or does the Event Oranizer (club) decide what goes on in pits or parking areas...

but a 12 pack will get me thru the morning and another in the afternoon...

I did respond with a clarification on the parking lot and pit area..and hopefully John will also get some clarification on this...

this is not of great importance to me but I just want to avoid any headaches that others might have as each event seems to have different rules have also asked him about Gas grills

If you have friends in low places you pull the keg trick. Looks like a keg turned into a fuel cell, even has a filler neck n gas cap welded on. It ain't though.

Or the new 1gallon can of gas AKA any good clear booze.

Course the 420 crowd doesn't have any problem smugglin but for the smell.
No ones ever complains about them from the advantage of their slower reaction times.

That answer seems to tell you what you want to know. The BPG does not have the authority to dictate rules at the track. We do not own it, we only rent it. And like any renter there are rules that are in place that you must follow set by the landlord. The track facility no matter who runs the event has the final word. After all it's their facility, they lease it but also set policy. Judging from what you were told you can drink in the parking lot but not beyond the gate. Now can you be smartly secretive and not broadcasting that you have a few cold ones stashed away and drinking them in a plastic coke cup, I am sure this has happened before. But regarding the inspection at the gate...well like I said it will be pot luck, they may be strict, and they may not, if you get caught you won't be aloud to bring it in.
As far as a gas BBQ, I have never heard of those being banned from getting into the pits. Just about every event I have gone to I always see guys with some small BBQ setups.

This is the first time that we are going to this track. I just want to make sure what we can and cannot do. What is the "gate" is it to the stands or to the pits? If someone ie: the track manager would say no alcohol in the pits instead of we allow a 12 pack size cooler beyond the gate then I would have my explination. I don't think this is beating a dead horse..as far as I am concerened the has been no real answer and based by the # of views this thread has I believe others want to know. I joined this club not to create waves but to enjoy Buicks and Buick owners and right now I am not feeling the love

Don't panic, GB. We can either show up at the gate 1st and ask (or see what they do), or we can bring beer and let them tell us if it is OK. Either way, the hotel is not too far away if we have to either take it back for the day and then drink all night, or go back and get it if allowed.
