Cecil County here we come....

After tonight,I have faith me and my rustbucket will get to Cecil Co in October. This car has fought me on everything including tranny mount,reverse shifter linkage,wheels getting blasted and several small gremlins. Well...tonight I showed it who was the boss..... It started right up and idled so nice. I was thrilled to hear the 118 camshaft loping like a big block. I got it started and idling on the very first try. It really made my day to hear it run. Now, if the guy who blasted my wheels is around tomorrow,I will be getting the dog dish wheels painted and all I need to do is alot of minor type jobs. The only problem I have is I went through all the trouble swapping intakes and painting things,that when the air cleaner and accys are bolten on,you cant see the nice motor.I need to get the carpet installed and wheels done as well as hook up a tach and gauge. Its not pretty,but I hope its reliable. I want to get it going this week and get the Hagerty ins on it and do a few local runs before I take it on its maiden voyage. As long as the weather is good, we should make it saturday.

We are talking the 73. It looks kinda rough since its been dug out of a barn after 10 years,but ran flawless while bringing it to my garage at my mother in laws. I pulled the 72 motor and installed the 70 SP 315 hp 350 that I had built up for my 71 GS 4 speed which I parted.I have some work to do but it really looks alot better than I expected after sitting dormant on flat tires and covered in dirt for years. I was too ashamed to take pics and post. As for ALL-PARTS, I am pissed at the driveshaft company I ordered one from..After several weeks of wait,they keep putting me off. Now I decided to go to Denny's driveshaft in NY and I'll go pick it up when the 1350 shaft is complete. Now that the 73 is going to be driveable, I can get AP all caged as room in the garage will be at a premium..

Yardley, I probably wont be racing since the motor now has officially 1 tenth of a mile and break-in time only. I am not sure I want to whoop on it that quickly. I plan to make a few local trips before going to Cecil with the NE guys..But I may bring the drag radials in case I change my mind.

Mine was shipped 2 days after I ordered it.

Yardley, I probably wont be racing since the motor now has officially 1 tenth of a mile and break-in time only.

So what.. Last year I put my motor in on Saturday. Broke it in on Sunday. Put it on the trailer Wednesday and then proceeded to beat the ever lovin' snot out of it on Thursday at Salem.

It has over 150 runs on it now and still going strong.

After breaking in the new motor for the 71, we proceeded to put 6 pulls on it. Each pull was 6k rpm.

I dont think a few runs down the track will hurt anything. Give it a few shake down runs to get a feel for it

Its not the fact I am a chicken to race it..It's the fact that I have to get it home 160 miles broken or towed.. If all goes well this week,maybe in the next 2-3 fridays,I can go street racing locally and see how she runs..Might even have to put the drag radials on as well...

I really told them I was there to grade the new accomidations for the club and if they weren't up to par we would be moving to another motel.
