Inner Fender well repair.

I thought I would ask if anyone has used the panel below and what was the outcome. I have an option to buy it for $25. I need to repair the one one my 70 GS.

I used one on my 71 ragtop that I used to have and when they finished, I couldn't tell it was ever done.

Bill, I honestly do not know. A friend of mine is selling it and offered it up to me knowing that I needed one. I will see where he got it.

Use only the amount of the metal you need. I wouldnt try to use it all unless it was needed. if that makes sense.

Mikes tip is a good one.

We've repaired several inners with this piece and it works great. If you but weld it and grind it flush you can't tell.

The only thing missing is the part # that's originally stamped into that area.

Just an FYI...

The pictures I posted above are not of my repair, they are another member’s work. I've copied a ton of stuff from here and other places over the years and haven’t done a very good job of organizing them.

We but welded our repair at the curve where the panel goes from horizontal over the wheel, just behind the battery box. (See the first picture) It's a good place to hide the finish work. The second picture is of the "virgin" panel we use for set up/measuring. The repaired panel looks funny because it's up side down and your looking at the bottom.
