2008 Engine Masters Challenge

We will be going to Lima Ohio to the Popular Hot Rodding Engine Masters Challenge Sept. 29th. This years engine is a 464 and as in previous years will be a pump gas street engine. If you are interested in this engine, it will be available any time after the contest. I'd say the projected HP but I don't want to jinx the outcome.

Well I just got back from Lima and the Engine Masters Challenge and before I left I knew we had a really good engine as compared to the last ones we had entered. The competition was also on their game as we placed 18th of 30 as compared to 16th last year. We as usual had to do the engine in a mad rush as we had a few problems with parts and also business has been crazy. I want to thank Mike Tomaszewski for his help in getting his parts to me on time and correct in all aspects. Without his help this years engine would never have happened. Although we had to do things in a hurry, I did have a plan and everything worked out on paper before we started. I also want to thank Tom Rix and Steve Schlater for their help at the contest.

Im so confused on that. I seen the info from Mon and Tue where they said you guy has over 700 but the Olds n Poncho were in 1-2nd with only around 500.

And none of the other engines were even close to yours?

How didn't ya get first?

Were they all holding back on the first run to only score in the 500s to wait for the finaly to show 700+ numbers???

The engine that we had in the contest was a 464 and the contest scores the average torque and average horsepower which is then divided by cubic inches. The winner of the contest was Jon Kasse with a 400 cubic inch Ford.
I had the second highest HP under a 429 cubic inch Ford Hemi also by Jon Kasse that had about 747.

Maybe build one of them wild 350 for next year for less cubes to divide by???

So what kind of power would have had to put out to be Top 10 competitive with 464 cubes?

And how were the results compared to your projections?

In answer to the less cubes to divide by with a 350, there are no heads good enough to support a high HP per cubic inch for that engine.
To be in the top ten it would take about a 745 HP 464 to make 2400+ points.

How come the numbers they reported were less than above?
