place to mount gauges

I am wondering where I should mount some aftermarket gauges in my 71 Sportwagon? Currently it is the factory original interior. I am looking to add the gauges to keep better track of how my motor is running. I am not looking to restore it, but also don't want something looking gaudy either.

If you dont use the AC (or if its not an ac car) you can use the area where the center vent is in the dashpad. you can either use an AC pad without the vent and mount them in that area or use a non ac pad and "sink" the gauges into it.

IF you plan on driving the car, its always a good idea to have oil press, water temp, and a volt guage in the car.

She is an A/C car,not sure if it works yet, but everything is there including a motorcraft pump(?) I am not sure if I will keep it or not in this area you really don't need A/C

Thats the only place I can see not having AC. Otherwise it's got to be there and working 100%!!

Here in Laramie, in the 10 years I have lived here I have seen it in the 90s maybe 3 times. Only time I have used my A/C is when I went to FL in Oct 06.
