We are putting glass fenders and hood on the 70 race car project and could use some help from some of you that have done this before.

We would like to be able to use pins and fasteners to be able to remove them easily to work. Pictures would be helpful, but any information you might have would be appreciated.

I would glass them together or buy a complete front end. That way your pulling it all at one time. Then you can get a universal bracket for the nose and use Dzus fasteners for the rest.

I have a set of fenders and a stage2 hood I want to mount this winter.

Here is what Tyler (my son) has done so far.

The hood is just set on for now. He modified and cut out as much metal and weight from the old core support that he could. Fenders are bolted on, but we may try to find a way for quicker removal.

Here are a few pics of the car I'm currently building.

I fabricated a light weight "core support" from 4130 CM tube, and square aluminum tube that connects the front fenders together, holds the bumper, grill and headlight bezels in place and is removable. I built two aluminum pcs that attach to the frame and "clamp" the tube in place with "push pins". The rear of the fenders are held together with square aluminum tube that runs side to side near the top of the firewall.

Everything is attached with Dzus fasteners were possible. To remove the entire front end, you need to remove the hood, pull the pins and release the clamps, undo 8 Dzus fasteners and 4 bolts and unplug the parking lights. This takes a total of about one-two minutes.

All this fabrication looks easy, but believe me it takes TIME! It's not that difficult but very very time consuming! The hard part is to have the patience to take your time and do it right. A little extra time spent now will pay dividends every time you use the car!!

Steve, that looks great. Nice car.

So far, looks like we are going to use the modified original core support and cut out as much as possible. there has been a lot of other weight cut out also around the car. Still need glass front bumper, rear bumper and trunk lid. And need to cut lexan glass for it.

Rear diff parts were ordered this week, so we should have a roller soon, then put in a block and heads and start working on building exhaust to feed the turbo.
