Finally got my 65 on the track. Finally.

Well it was a great day for me at the track yesterday. I finally got everything worked out and ran decent I think.

1st run, 12.80 at 104.5 - 60 ft 1.85

2nd run, 12.50 at 106.3 - 60 ft 1.80

3rd run, 12.36 at 108.7 - 60 ft 1.74

4th run 12.40 at 108.4 - 60 ft 1.71

I kept spitting the belts off. I need a Deep Double Chrome Alt Pulley. And I need a new short water pump.

It was a great day. Ant Yacster and Phil both did great. Ant won Stock Appearing and Phil was runner up in a heads up class!! I won 1 round and lost second round in the slick class. I still got a small trophy and a Class Winner Sticker for my tool box!! Great day indeed.

I did nothing to the engine throughout the day even though I picked up. I did adjust the bags a little.

First time back on the track in like 10 years.

Just kinda happened that way. It is the first 4 passes on the car so it might get better. I will jet and time eventually to see what more it has but I need a new Coan converter asap!!!!

Larry figured out that i'm losing 1000 rpm at the traps. Should be at 5000 but i'm seeing 6000!!!

Joe, you have no idea how much I'd love to do just that. I'd like to try my car out, but it can't seem to keep from puking coolant all over my garage floor.

The car you have is about what I'd like to get to some day, only in a drop top. Maybe I ought to sell the GS, and get going in that direction.

Tom let's figure out why your spitting coolant. Can only be a few things. Then you can run it all day long!! First off is the radiator the original? If so I'd have it restored. New is good. Then you should get a new thermostat. Does
Your clutch fan spin easily when it's not running?

Joe, it appears that either the water pump has expired, or there is a leak between the pump and the timing cover, or the timing cover itself is toast.

It will have to wait for another week or two, since I have to do some work on my daily driver Z-71.

I really hope that the timing cover is OK though. I did find what seems to be a missing bolt on the water pump. Of course, its in the most difficult to reach spot. Or, it could mean a broken bolt from a previous pump replacement. Next week, the disassembly will begin.
