This is my home track and live about 5 min. away in Newark/Heath and wanted to pass along a little info. About 2 weeks ago the city of Heath installed 4 sets of STOP LIGHT AND SPEED CAMERAS along RT. 79 and 30th street. 79 is the main drag thru town and 30th is the large street in front of Lowes/Olive Garden. Just want to make sure everybody is aware of this. THESE LIGHTS ARE SPEED SENSITIVE!!!!! The speed limit is 35 on both of these roads. I just want to make sure that nobody gets a ticket. Later this week i will get exact intersection names. I know for sure that one of them is in front of Ruby Tuesdays, our thursday night cruise in spot.

As promised i got the street names of all the cameras. There are 5 sets, 1 i didn't know about. Here they are with certain buisnesses at the corners---



30th St. and McDonald Lane----Sonic and Aldi grocery on the corners



Rt. 79/Hebron Rd. and Parkview Dr./Hopwell Dr.----TCI Tire and Chipotle and Donato's pizza on the corners

U got it. If u run a light or are going to fast it snaps a pic of your plate, the police department runs it and puts the ticket in the mail. They say their doing it for safety and not for the revenue, YEAH RIGHT!! The weekend after our event is the ( forgive me for saying the word ) Mopar Nationals which is huge. 3 days of classics cruising and doing burnouts up and down the same strip of road. They almost make enough revenue from the mopar guys in those 3 days to cover themselves for the hole year. Now imagine having cameras helping you out.

ooh that sucks. The mentality behind this money maker is the fine is no points. You just pay it. And if you fight it you have to actually admit in court you were the driver. On doing so if and most likely you are found guilty you still pay the fine but now that you are identified as the driver by your own admission, you get the points, hence your car insurance goes up. So in the end almost everyone just pays it.

What type of cameras are these?? Do they take a picture from the front, so that the driver is also identified? Or do they take the photo from the rear, showing the rear license plate, plus the red light which the offender is running?

We have the latter types in Winnipeg, plus mobile photo radar units which like to set up around school zones (good), and construction zones (also good).

For the record, as of this date, I have never been caught by one of these.

That i'm not sure of? I would imagine that it takes it from the rear. Ohio has front and rear plates but some of the states have only rear ones so a front picture wouldn't do any good.
