New Motor (455) setting's initial start up

I'm new to the site and have a couple of question's maybe someone could help me out with, I have a 67 GS 340 with a freshly rebuilt 1970 455 with a slight Comp Cam installed. I will be starting the motor for the first time and was wondering about some setting's basic stuff, I will be using a MSD ready to run Distributor with a blaster II coil, should I run Vac and Mech advance or just Mech ? also what type of setting's should I dial in in advance in the way of Dist setup. Spark plug gap what would be the best recomendation on this both the 67 and 70 info I have are for points setup should I use a larger gap.

All MSD distributors use bushings to limit the mechanical advance. The black bushing gives you 18* of mechanical advance, which is ideal. For breaking in the engine, just set the timing where it will run smoothly at the break in speeds. You can leave the vacuum advance connected also. After break in is complete, you can set the total advance, and experiment with what your engine will want. Usually, 30-36* total timing works best. This thread I wrote over on V8 will help.

For sparkplug gap, .045 works great with the MSD system, and is a safe gap.
