I'm looking for a water temperature sensor for my '70 GS that has the factory gauges. Anyone know where I can find one?
Thanks.

Carl, Is it the little piece that screws into the back of the passenger side cylinder head? I have seen them on ebay fairly often. I have been looking around here since I saw your post, but so far I have not located one, and I thought I had one, but I got so dang much stuff it's hard to keep track of smaller items.

I am a hater! I am a hater and a bitter old fool. Hahahaha
Ask me about Buick restoration shops before you hire one.
No Henry,it's the sensor that goes in the front top left of the intake manifold with the connector pointing straight up. Hopefully I can find one.

Is this different from one that wouldn't be for an instrument cluster, i.e., idiot light ?
Have you checked with Doug at BuickFarm ?

The NAPA one has the round top where the wire slides on perpendicular to the one Scott has. It does come with the wire connector & plastic sleeve as shown. Sorry about the crappy picture, hope you can see enough.

Dan,I'll have to solder a terminal to the new sensor to look like the original.
I've got one on order from NAPA and I'll be picking it up after work today.
Thanks again for the part number.![]()

Probably not a good idea Carl. I'd worry about placing that much heat on the sender, 2ndly with the vibration + heat from the engine, I'd fear it wouldn't hold up and likely not read accurately.
After looking at mine for a while, I suggest buying a male spade crimp for a #10 or #8 wire. Take the flat spade and file/grind as needed to fit your feed wire 1st. After that fits, then I'd look at the sensor to spade connection, and see if I couldn't spread out the barrel of the spade crimp where the wire is designed to go in(usually they are made from flat copper, then formed to make the connector). Now file/grind the sensor pad on top just a bit, so that the crimp will slip on, then crimp.![]()

Why not just buy one from Lectric Limited.

TEMPERATURE SENDING UNITS
A New Solution To An Old Problem!
Is your car running too hot?
Maybe your temperature gauge is not telling you the truth.
Most cars have had their temperature sending unit replaced with a GM/Delco or an
auto part's store replacement temperature sending unit. This may be your problem!
Lectric Limited now offers accurate temperature sending units for many Chevrolet, Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac & Cadillac vehicles. Months of research were devoted to this project in order to provide our customers with sending units that have the original-type terminal connection, housing and resistance (thermistor); resulting in an accurate gauge reading. They screw right into the 1/2" (not 3/8") pipe thread hole (as original).
Both auto part's stores and GM/Delco do sell replacement temperature sending unit, but they do not produce an accurate gauge reading in vintage cars. This is because sending units from an auto part's store and even GM, are only a generic replacement; often requiring a new, matching gauge or re-calibration of your original gauge.
Please Note: The terminal connections on all our sending units are exactly as-original.
Through the years, the mating terminal & connector on your harness may have been
changed by you or a previous owner. This change was most likely made in order to try
different sending units when the "exact replacement" unit didn't work or was not available.
If your harness had been modified from original, we do offer replacement
Temperature Sending Unit Lead Repair Kits. (See our “Repair Components” section.)
Consult our on-line catalog & order form for your application & price.
