Competition sucks unless your r ready to win. the patent laws are outdated as is the whole US economy. Free trade. I go bot ways on this but bobb and geoff and Finish line have as much right to compete and givre us the best choices. That said again I will say I still want a TA Block!!!! I will have Bobb and Geoff. or Scotty do it right. Does that matter?

Sorry about not adding my name..... I haven't posted here ever, although I have been a lurker for several years. The TA cover controvery may increase traffic to this forum. I have heard many good things about Finishline.

People throw the patent word all the time. I'm just curious if a few small refinements to a stock cover could even be patented.

I'm not allowed to drink while on duty. There is a bottle of Makers Mark waiting for me when I get home....... love your car by the way Philip.

Even if TA would have patented their design, it would still be legal because it IS being manufactured by a DIFFERENT manufacturing process. Now talk intellectual knowledge, odds ARE someone else already increased oil passages in some other engine, say a Hemi, Chebby or Ford. How do you know TA didn't steal the idea? That is what patent lawyers do, research the heck out of stuff.

The main reason it wasn't patented, it ISN'T WORTH IT too. Buying a patent is not that expensive (a few grand or so), but defending is.(usually in the millions). And it can be dragged out for many years, TA wouldn't stand a chance. The one with the most money usually wins.

The TA cover is made from a superior casting alloy process. This is a different cover, giving the consumer a lower cost alternative. What is wrong with that? What is a crime, not alternatives for single plane SBB intakes, heads...

That said, I buy what I can from TA, as they support our club and usually ship in on time.

Although I personally have not had dealings with Bobb and Finishline, I have heard many good things about them and their service. I would not hesitate to buy from them or have work done from them. They seem to be loyal to their customers and seem honest. If Bobb says these are good items to use, I firmly believe him. He wouldn't put their name on it if he didn't believe in it. Same goes for TA.It's nice to have a lower cost alternative for us guys who are hard workers and only have a minimal budget. It I scatter my engine,it takes me a couple years to recoup.Unlike some of the others I know. Not a jealous thing,but just honest facts. I am not a millionaire and have to do with what budget I have. If this cover will suffice me,saving 1/2 price lets me get other things I may need.
