My oldest son just turned 10... We live in the semi sticks and he and his 6 yo brother wanted to go exploring... so they got suited up with their boots and Ian 10 had a back pack and a 2 way radio as well as his new camera...a tie down strap.. some snacks and some water...and off they went into the woods...we have a stream behind the house that was swollen due to the 7" of rain we just had...so off they went....I kept calling them every 10 mins to make sure they were ok...all is good...about 45 mins I call them and they say they are lost....I ask then where they are....they are still at the stream...I tell them to follow stream back to house or go down to lake and I will meet them....they head down to the lake and I drive the 1/2 mile down to the lake and contact them on the radio....well now they are upset...I tell them to keep following the stream to the lake and I will meet them...about 10 mins later I see them...boy were they happy...they had tied themselves together just in case someone fell into the stream...my 6 yo gave me the biggest hug....but Ian lost his camera...which was a present the day before...Tim(6yo) said we could buy another and just wanted to go home...I put him in truck and went back with Ian to find the camera...we did about 50 yds away....he was sooo happy...I called my wife and said I had the package...she said bring the package home...and I did...moral.....let kids be kids...but keep a tight hand on the rope...in this case the radios
