"help support commerical viability of bovine aviation"
. thats a good way to start this thread. in betwixt finishing up 350 part II, i will update the thought(?) process of this thread.
i have contacted pete aardema(google his name for info) and he going to send me papers and video on how he did his. he made a bunch of stuff and still does off the wall stuff. my kind of guy.
i originally looked at the 2.7 chrysler dohc and thought it was a ok way to do it. the cam setup is ok for future design. but the lifter/rocker arm setup would be tough on muscle car valve springs. it also runs a chain drive. really dont think i want to go there. the timing belt will probably be it. pete says his sbc/ohc has 70k on his setup. he also told about making cams. i'm going to try to build a interchange lobe cam and lifter. we'll see.
if you thought i had too many different makes of cars(ford, chevy, mopar) in the current 350, stay tuned.
any and all ideas/thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Updates?
no updates. just a lot of thinking and figuring out how to build and assemble. i know we will have to use electronic ignition, motorized oil pump, basically a whole new timing cover setup. i think most of it will be easy, just time consuming. and some $$$. but this is for the next winter project.

trying to figure out costs on this project. not cheap to say the least. 2 blocks of aluminum for the ohc is $600 w/out making a mistake(). havent called the cam company that pete ardeema uses yet to get that cost(
). but i have figured out some of the timing belt issue.
i was scrounging around the web and found mike booher's v6 s/c dragster. he uses a timing cover made by danny-bee. it also incorporates a front dist setup. pretty neat. looks like i could run the cam belts with some mods. but its $1100. then there is the external oil pump issue. $$$
alternative; been at the junkyard looking at the rover engines. they use the crank for the oil pump. they had a 1995 and a 2000. the '00 has a thin front cover, half the thickness of a regular cover. on ebay, they can be costly. need to find a cheap one to r&d with.
in between all this, i found a complete hilborn locally for $1500. still thinking on this. also asked my machine about doing a 390 engine. $1600 just to start the block AND i dont know if it can be done. (the If is very aggraveting for me. dont like no.) then to complete the 390 is another $2-3000, minimum. OUCH.
issues, issues, all the time issues.![]()
